Jeremy Hill's 19 Yard Run vs. Alabama - Beckham Miss a Block for a TD?

Just watching a few Jeremy Hill highlights and ran across this gem from the Alabama game. Hill goes up the middle and bounces to the left into the open field. Beckham runs right by him and goes between 2 Alabama defenders and doesn't block anyone. Maybe he was trying to get out of Hill's way and maybe it wouldn't have mattered.
Do you think that Hill could have scored, or gotten inside the 5 at least if Beckham makes the block on #27? Look at the second part of the highlight in slow motion.

Looks like the change of direction got Beckham

Agreed.

Beckham didn't miss the block, he avoided it. I don't know that he definitely would've scored, but he definitely would've had a few more yards at least.
"Plays off" on both sides of the ball were the thorn in our side last season.

Don't know about touchdown, but it probably would have saved us from Copeland's unnecessary roughness penalty.

eh milliner probably gets him out inside the 10

He would've been stopped for even fewer yard had he not changed direction. The interest of self-preservation got the best of Beckham. Plain and simple.

it looks like he was en route to block #13, who fell to the turf.

Doesn't absolve him from avoiding the next block.

Oh so that's why he threw a half arse shoulder at 42 who ran right by him?

It was poor effort but he just didn't anticipate the cut back was the main issue

Agreed.
Granted Beckham is much smaller, but I sure miss guys like Clayton, Bowe, and Lafell just absolutely mauling guys down field.

I agree with that. Some of the recent guys like D Byrd, RR, and others just never had that in them

Every great running game needs WRs blocking on the edge. Hopefully this will be addressed and will improve this year. All they have to do is put a hat on a guy and slow him down at that point.
That game ...

Hills quick change of direction caught ODB by surprise, but even with a good block on #27 I don't think Hill gets farther than 2-3 yards inside the 10

Yep - Looks like change of direction

Beckham is no Jarvis Landry. He also cost us the Florida game last year as well if you recall.
