Jennings went into dangerous/illegal situation and got teammates to go with him

That is the bottom line, and it's pretty damning.

When people talk about the Jennings situation, they usually don't distill it down to these basic elements.

Yes, he had a right to get his stuff back, but he pursued an illegal avenue of doing so. He circumvented law enforcement and attempted vigilante justice despite being a high-profile NCAA athlete. What could go wrong?

Yes, he was able to get his stuff back without anyone being harmed. But he unlawfully entered an inhabited dwelling to do it, bringing two teammates with him for "muscle." He's very lucky the inhabitant did not have a gun, causing harm to himself or the others.

If you are Les Miles, how can you make public comments that you're confident there will be a very positive outcome to his pending criminal prosecution, and that you anticipate he will compete for a starting position?

Even if Jennings ultimately ends up getting a slap on the wrist legally (and it's certainly not clear that he will), why would the head coach be doing anything but: A) staying quiet in the media until then or B) admonishing the kid for his dumb choices and total lack of leadership.

Instead, we get these Jennings-affirming comments out of nowhere today. The kid was in the PR "dog house" for less than one offseason month before the coach starts trying to prop him up again, just in time for fall camp.

Reason #2987299487 Les Miles sits atop the HOT SEAT.

This is like in a movie when they say the title in conversation.

you're supposed to start this off by saying "this is not a thread about who should start, but..."

Jennings didn't lead the bunch and they knocked on the door and were let in where they waited until their patience ran out. Everything was probably sorted out and there's no hard feelings probably. Go back into your cave little Miles hater.

How would you know that? Please provide a plausible alternate theory as to who would be leading the bunch other than the individual who was seeking to get his property back.

I guess the BRPD who arrested him for "Unauthorized Entry of a Dwelling" don't know what they're talking about?

Sounds like a poised leader to me.

Why were the cops called then?

The room where the stolen items were was locked and they were waiting for the guy to come home so that they could retrieve it. When he didn't show up after awhile, Dwayne Thomas kicked the door in and grabbed Jennings' stuff and they left. The guy who let them in called the police because he thought they had just stolen his friends stuff. Terrible decision making but it's typical dumb college stuff. I doubt anyone has hard feelings about it. The dude shouldn't have stolen from Jennings and the guy shouldn't have bought stolen items and the players should've never tried to get it themselves.

Either way, they'll all be back on the team doing something with their lives while you bitch and moan on Internet message boards.

They were "overcharged" to begin with.

Where are you getting this info? Not that it would change my opinion, but I'm just curious.

Plenty of terrible decisions/dumb college stuff have gotten athletes in the coach's doghouse, and rightfully so. The fact that you (and Miles) are implying that he shouldn't be there is truly astounding to me. What kind of example does this set?

You think Miles is going to publicize the team punish for Jennings, Bain & Thomas?

It's going to be handled internally as it should be.

In other words, "don't confuse me with facts, my mind is closed."
Dude, you are getting your butt kicked in 2 threads at the same time tonight. Even a person of your limited intelligence should understand that it's for you to go to bed.

It's called reading. Everything he mentioned was in articles immediately following the incident.
