For this game alone there are two incontrovertible facts:

Lee operated the passing offense much better.
JJ operated the rushing offense much better.

we all know Lee played a better game than JJ
Lee threw better than Jefferson. Much better.

But the team got more yards per play and more scores when Jefferson was QB.

So now JJ gets credit for plays where the runner gets more yardage on hand offs than they do for Lee?

Why is it so strange to you that the running QB system affects the run game? The main problem is he needs to be a threat to complete passes also to to be really effective.

Jefferson forces the defense to worry about more weapons than Lee.

I disagree with this... Lee got the ball to more players than JJ did.

JJ does make it harder on defenses to defend the run, because he's definitely more of a threat to keep the ball than Lee. That's not even close.

I'd just like to see Shep or Ware see what they can do with the read option. Geez think about it. With the way Shep can burst through a seam that would be killer.

I also think that would work better since Shep/Lee will be on the field more than JJ/Lee at the same time. Go up to the line with Lee under center, then split Lee out wide and let Shep take the snap with Ware or Ridley in the backfield.

He cant pass. What other than running do they have to worry about. Even UT was stacking the box with 8/9 men.

In case you missed it. Make damn sure you understand the stat before you make an argument...

To the person that started this thread, You are out of your mind. look at the stats as far as yds and number of plays. At a 30% completion rate, we lose that game.. TO quote Will Hunting "...How about them apples"

Here's your stats:
Passing
Name G QBRat Att Comp Pct Yds Y/A Y/G TD Int Long Sack YdsL
Jordan Jefferson 5 88.0 89 46 51.7 449 5.0 89.8 2 6 51 5 -37
Jarrett Lee 3 133.2 25 18 72.0 206 8.2 68.7 0 1 47 2 -17
Specifically for tenn. lets suppose JJ keeps up his blazing 33 % completion with his 2 picks for the next 23 pass plays for the sake of argument. he gets a total of wait...
wait..

9 for 33 with 4 picks and a grand total of 90 yds. wooooo freakin hooooo

All I have done is provide stats to prove points.

All you have done is call me stupid and say "Lee looked better!."

Congrats, if that makes you feel better.

Thanks for the stats. Good post.

Yes, because when Jefferson is QB, the defense is more spread out and has to worry about more weapons than when Lee is QB.

And they can also bring 8 men in the box 100% of the time because Jefferson can't throw the ball.

The statistics don't tell the story you want them to tell.

frick these stats. All I know is when we needed big time 3rd and 4th down pick ups Lee delivered.

This.

It's the difference between LSU fans that actually watch the game and watch what is happening to our program on the field, and LSU fans that rattle off statistics (the "51 wins" crew we had to endure over the summer) day in and day out.

4th and 21? Wow! The legend grows!!

How did LSU get into that 4th and 14?

Lee incurred a delay of game which caused LSU to waste timeout too, a very valuable timeout.

All it takes is one 30 yard scamper to throw everything off kilter. You can't possibly be suggesting that the guy that is capable of moving the ball through the air is somehow crippling the running game.

Ridley got more carries with Lee than JJ.

Here is the breakdown, if you want:

With JJ:

1, 2, 29, 2, 8, 4, 1, 20, 14, 1, 1

With Lee:

4, 2, 0, 7, 8, 0, 6, -1, 11, 0, 2

how bout PASSING yards. Since we are comparing QUARTERBACKS.

Hell, even COMPLETIONS would be a better comparison.

No, but if you but Lee in the shotgun with a single back and 4 WRs you'll see that defense spread the frick out

Not the same effect. Lining up wide =/= D wide flow with option.

Are yards not yards?

Who cares how you get 'em, right? Just get 'em.
