karma,
You are very naive.
No one questions Guilbeau's right to ahv eand express and opinion.
As you suggest, that is what columnists do.
However, he has rather transparently take the well traveled road of being the voice of doom, doubt and controversy.
It sells papers, makes people talk about your columns (as this thread reflects) but threre is no good faith or integrity in this approach. Frankly, it's pretty easy to be a naysayer.
When's the last time this writer illuminated a postive point for LSU that was novel, required unusual perception, exceptional research, etc....?
Hummmmmm?
That's what I thought...

I'm not naive. I know exactly how and why writers, columnists and sports radio personalities operate, and probably have more insight into same than you.

But the GG hatred to me is laughable. More than half of the people on the rant want to be spoonfed and caressed and told that their tiger tails are beautiful.

I just think it's hilarious. And for the record, I think JJ should have played earlier. Is there a way that Miles could have known that for sure? nah. Does that make it wrong for someone to take that angle? nah.

i'd never say JJ should've been the starter, but it's not wrong to think that maybe he should've been groomed earlier. And at UGA I think it probably needed to start quickly.

And so is everyone else who says that Jefferson should have been playing earlier.

The point is that the coaches should have noticed the God given talent JJ has and should have spent more time developing him rather than Hatch. If they would have done this, yes, he would have played earlier. They didnt spend the right amount of time on him because they thought they already had their "system" with Lee and Hatch.

Guilbeau says the most retarded things. The fact that this idiot actually gets paid real American dollars to give his 2 cents on LSU football is clear evidence that capitalism, while superior, is not perfect. This is the same imbecile who declared last year's National Championship to be LSU's 2nd National Championship in 4 years. Hmmm, lets see, 2003,2004,2005,2006,2007 - that looks like FIVE Glenn. He's apparently horrible at math, as he must think that he gets paid more than Les.

How many days of preseason practice does college get? How long does it take to learn a college offense?

JJ has great promise and looked good against GT.
Also remember GT's defence is no Alabama , Georgia of Florida.

Throwing in a freshman when he is not ready can break one's confidence.

Karma,
If you think GG's brand of journalism is "professonal" , then I think you are naive.
Look, unlike others,I recognize that it is NOT GG's job to make LSU look good or to improve the program.
The objectivity that you pay lip service to, however, is betrayed by GG's adherence to negativity toward the program. By the end of the year last year, when LSU won the championship, he looked silly at times.
Being a naysayer and looking for controversy is just as pititful as being a cheerleader.
Oh, you failed to addressed the last question I posed:
When's the last time GG distinguished himself with a exceptional research or perceptions in a POSITIVE article on LSU?
Your failure to respond speaks volumes.

Because JJ just got to campus and didn't know much about the offense, yet?

Anyone can look backwards and say what should have been.

failure to find the exceptional, does not make something poor.
nor does failure to find the positive make someone a poor writer. And GG has plenty of positives in the article that we listed above.

Writers have their own tones. Is Andy Rooney a terrible writer because he's always negative?

Because you don't like GG's approach doesn't make him unprofessional. GG is not a shock jock like Finebaum. He doesn't make up silly things to say about Saban for the sheer purpose of riling up a fanbase.
