I think you're naive if you don't think the Alabama and A&M staff won't mention this a time or two while talking to a HS football player and his family maybe not a main talking point but certainty a throw in comment

No. I don't believe it is still a "protest". I believe it's just a response to the original non-sensical "protest"

Why would a football recruit care what the LSU women's basketball team did? College football teams aren't even on the field during the national anthem.

Agree completely. Schools and TV can schedule laser shows, music scripts and smoke filled introductions. The absence of teams being present for the Anthem is not on the kids and coaches!

The governor is 100% correct. I bet most of you that are bitching at the governor ever served in the military or had anyone KIA. We are the USA and need to start acting like the USA of old. I love Lsu and our women's BB coach and support her 100% but we need to show our military that we respect them. This is a hot topic and everyone has a point but we need to respect the men and women who died for this country.

Because the Gov. of the State put out a statement of:
"It is time that all college boards, including Regent, put a policy in place that student athletes be present for the national anthem or risk their athletic scholarship! This is a matter of respect that all collegiate coaches should instill."
Does that statement read that it only pertains to women's basketball to you?

I think the part of Landry’s statement saying there should be a policy in place to pull scholarships if not on field for the anthem could definitely be used against LSU in recruiting. An opposing coach could create a lot of hypothetical situations that could sway a recruit.
