Annually-

Avery Johnson makes $2.8 million at Alabama.

CJJ makes $1.5 million at LSU.

Exactly. There simply isn't a reason why LSU can't be a consistent top 25 program that makes the tournament 3 out of every 4 years. We have the resources and athletic budget to make that a reality.

Doing so would require LSU to put up $2+ million to bring in a coach that can get us to that level, and I doubt King and Alleva want to spend anywhere near that on a basketball coach.

Remember, this is the same administration that cancelled a dedicated nutrition center, and delayed the firing of Miles, all due to the "current climate of austerity".

That's what happens when you have a president and athletic director that are committed to winning, and are willing to pay to get the results they desire.

Problem with basketball is that it's the 3rd sport at LSU by a wide margin.

And IMHO Bama is no more talented that us, I've seen them play enough to say that confidently, yet they are 7-4 in conference and we are 1-10 or whatever we are I don't look anymore.

And they have Corban Collins playing a significant role for chrissakes, a kid who left here cause he didn't think he'd play enough.

A coach can make a difference, but gotta be the right coach and therein lies the rub.

no excuse. if small expensive private schools like Gonzaga can field tourney teams year in, year out, then we should at least make the tournament with Ben MF'ing Simmons and the rest of that roster. It is inexcusable that Jones wasn't fired the day we missed the NCAAT.

eta: and if you've ever been to Spokane, you know they aren't drawing a lot of local talent. BR alone has more talent than the State of Washington.

I've seen 20 better players already today on the Quad than reside in the State of Washington?

If you build the program, they will come.

It's all about getting the right coach and Alleva has shown he's not very good at that part of his job.

Did you notice the other thing that made that stadium rockin? The students lined the whole sideline 10 rows deep. The Deaf Dome had the same thing not long ago, but Aleva moved the student section behind the baseline on one end so he could get more ticket revenue from paying ticket holders. Move the student section back to where it was and the Deaf Dome will return and give our students reason to go to games. I wouldn't want to sit behind the goal either, even if it is free.

Wichita state is in kansas.

They have three stars and walk ons who were given wichita mini-basketballs in the crib.

I agree that with the right coach a total turnaround will happen for lsu hoops but the region is not going to provide the depth of players or high school coaches.
Louisiana youth league and high school football coaching is unexcelled on earth.
Hoops, just ok.
