WOW! Impressive until he meets an SEC linebacker Headon. Who gets up after that? Too skinny to be running around in the SEC and last more than a few games.

Just curious about where you've seen a good deep ball from JD

Just go look at his ASU highlights. I’m all in on Nuss but I’ve watched the highlights and JD looks solid to me. I don’t know if he can survive in the SEC at his weight running like he did at ASU but he kept his eyes downfield and hit some long balls

That means nothing when you are playing a elite defense who doesn't allow you to scramble and now you have to win from the pocket. I'm telling yall now whoever lsu qb is will have to win a game from the pocket and the question is can either one do that?

. Do you not know that he does these things really well also? Why are you shitting on the fact that our QB would be one of the fastest players on most NFL teams? You act like it’s a bad thing. How ridiculous

Just because you can't read doesn't mean I think speed is a bad thing.

I've already said in this thread that max sprint speed as a metric is largely useless because it's a snapshot of a fixed point in time that doesn't get reached consistently. Especially by QBs.

But he does those other things you mentioned really well also. He is the most mobile QB LSU has ever had and it’s not close.

Cool. Good for him.

I'm not sure why you're trying to convince me of something regarding Jayden Daniels when I'm clearly only commenting on the validity of max sprint speed as an indicator of success at the QB position.

And even on that you’re wrong. Yes quickness is more important than straight line speed. But the 2 go together. Usain Bolt is going to be “quicker” than Joe Smo

No. I'm not.

Not always. That's why there are such things as cone drills and force plates.

Maybe. But even if he is, Usain Bolt's max sprint speed tells us absolutely nothing about whether or not he will be successful as a QB.

It’s better to be fast than slow. In basketball is it better to be able to shoot or no? It’s not necessary to be good, but it absolutely helps and is never a negative.

Point to where I've said otherwise.

You still fail to grasp my issue is with the specific metric cited. Since you clearly didn't read the whole thread, I will repeat:

Average sprint speed would be more telling than max sprint speed.

I can see him now. Streaking down the sidelines Saturday night with saban throwing his head set in anger.

Can he play the mental game as a QB? Nice that he's fast but it's not nearly as impressive as being able to make quick defensive reads and accurate throws. File this speed stat under "Meh"

File it under its not coachable and helps a ton. Just because he’s fast doesn’t mean he can’t do those things. Would you rather him be slow?

Fastest max sprint speeds in last years NFL were by, Jonathan Taylor(stud running back), Ja’marr Chase, Henry Ruggs, Jaylen Waddle, Patrick Surtain. All of those guys are extremely quick as well. It’s not a meaningless metric

I'm sure it's nice to have and being able to give the coaches more options in game plans, but his main job is to run the offense, and that is going to primarily by throwing the ball.

His speed could extend plays, but his throwing skill is what is more important as a QB

Cool. And knowing that they had the fastest max sprint speeds, tell us how good they would be at QB.
