Coaches like what they see with Daniels' offseason improvements and trusting his deep ball more. If he can improve his vertical passing game, this offense is going to be hard to stop.

Denbrock:
quote:

I think Jayden’s ability to push the ball down the field consistently is something we’ve worked very hard on in the spring. He’s worked very hard on that during the winter, even when he’s been away from here. We wanna be a threat in the vertical passing game and that takes some aggressiveness at the quarterback position and we want him to step into that role and not be afraid to let it fly.

We’ve encouraged him to do that, he’s done an unbelievable job here early and in the spring. We’re about halfway through and really like the progress we’ve made there and we’ve got some dynamic guys who can go get it on the outside. That’s going to be a big key for us.

He has the ability to do it. It’s 100% a mental thing for him.

I hope this report is 100% true, but after a decade of Les Miles practice reports and spring games where it sounds, and we look, like the second coming of the Art Briles’s system I will not believe it for one second until I see it against FSU.

Additionally, has anyone said he’s ever been afraid to throw it deep? I always thought the rant’s biggest complain to was his unwillingness to throw to tight windows, particularly on intermediate throws in the middle of the field, or at least that was my complaint.

I felt Nuss really pushed him in the bowl game. If we get that Daniels for an entire season, sky is the limit.

If he can improve his downfield passing game, he will win a Heisman.

I think he was more worried about throwing picks than taking chances to trust his receivers to make plays.

So many dudes at WR that can go get the ball. Jayden turns the corner with his ability to push it down field and the sky is the limit with the offense.

I’ve been an outspoken advocate of JD and what he brings to the table, that being said, this is just practice so don’t get too hyped up yet

You cannot teach his scrambling ability or speed.

You cannot teach his arm strength. You can build it up some, sure, but you either have it or you don't.

You can improve on accuracy and you definitely can improve on when to be conservative and when to be aggressive.

Going to be a fun ride with him at the helm this season.

thats a legit worry if you are going to throw over the middle.

There's zero concern for an int when you throw it down the field into single coverage with our receivers. You should be fussed everytime you don't air it out to a receiver in single coverage 30+ yards down the field.
