although if we had someone capable of playing a bit better defense then we could dh yorke and possibly get a different bat in the lineup if they shuffle things up that way.
not sure who that would be though.

If Braun could have some consistency at the plate, he is supposed to be a first baseman, and a really good one. He's short for a 1B, so not ideal for stretching or catching those high throws, but he can certainly field that position very well.

Braun was the #1 rated 1st baseman coming in. He needs to be there and he can hit

Ricken will get more looks. He has been good. Potential is very high.

The kid himself said he almost never played 1B before getting to LSU. He was rated the #1 first baseman by a bunch of people who never actually saw him play the position because he's big and left handed.

I'm not saying he can't play it, I'm saying it will be a transition for him. And transitions can be messy. It would also involve a lot of time coaching him up on it in season, when time is more scarce and the time is better spent on getting him ready to hit college pitching.

He will probably be used at first base on whatever summer league team he plays for.

I know most on here don't think that Yamin's bat will play long term, but I think that I need to see a larger sample size than what I have seen so far to agree. He hit decently in the offseason and has improved his defense yet he's only gotten less than a handful of at bats so far this season after sitting last year. With his size, versatility and power I feel like he could help us out more than he's been allowed.

No. I’m wondering why Noot didn’t start or come out of the pen after Guidry or Plog when the game was still close. He can pitch an inning in any of those scenarios and still pitch this weekend.
Noot is definitely one of the 7-8 pitchers Jay is saying he can count on. Is it that Jay was trying to see what the rest of the bullpen was going to give him and he pitched Noot in the 9th just to hurry up and get the game over with?
