re: Jay Johnson isn’t that guy

Look, I don’t think anybody in their right mind is wanting Jay Johnson kicked to the curb after coaching just over 20 games here.
This also doesn’t change the fact that this team is garbage right now, and we look like an absolute dumpster fire. I haven’t been this excited about a baseball season in maybe 4-5 years, and that shine is all but disappeared already. Sad to see. I don’t wanna go this far yet, but I’ll put it out there. It doesn’t look like Jay was the right guy for this job. Sure, 5 years from now I could be totally wrong. Just looking back at the hire, and the start of this year, I’m not sure we made the right decision on Jay.

And you are not an LSU fan, it’s been decided. We need to let you go, find another team now.

I don’t want to be “fire the coach after 20 games guy” but Jay Johnson is making it really tough. It’s one thing to lose games early in your time at a school. It’s another when you are losing games and not making obvious changes that would help the team.
The pitching is going to be the pitching. I don’t think he has the horses to fix that this year but the fielding issues can be fixed. You have the depth to find quality fielders even if it means sacrificing some offense. If you move Berry to DH you still have one of the best 1-5 lineups if not the best in the country. Use 2 the other 4 for top notch defense guys. I don’t care if they hit .120 at this point.

Not only got the season all figured out after 20 games. You've got the Jay Johnson tenure figured out after 20 games.
Did you by chance say that LSU wouldn't make a regional at this time last year too?

It’s not a failure yet but agree thought this year would be fun. This has been a shite show. Will give it time but very surprised how poorly the team looks coached.

Do I need to remind everyone that CJJ had his team in the CWS last year? Trust the process.
Posted on 3/24/22 at 7:33 am to GoatBurrow
I have to wonder if CJJ is hearing the grumbling already and knows exactly what he has stepped into.

He went 29-27 in his first year and 40-21 in his 2nd finishing no better than 3rd in the east and made 1 regional

it's not so much Jay as it is the team he was left with. Give the guy more than 2 months, geezus

So none of these kids knew how to bunt, throw, field a ground ball, etc before they were offered a D1 scholarship ?
These kids have played thousands of innings of live baseball by the time they are college aged.
LSU Baseball = Lack of execution of fundamentals.
one of my coaches growing up would fix that problem with the following supplies:
Fungo
Jug Balls
Basketball gym
Plywood
Leather strap
you'll learn to watch it in and not waste the throw after a couple hundred of those at 100 mph+
Thank you Kenny Alfred ! "Lome"

I was actually encouraged last night after our terrible start.
Ventmeir, Landsville and Gervaise were money out of the pen.
The D was solid and they actually helped the pitcher. Some if our big guns had done quality ABs.

Same void as football: attack, attack, attack. Just ain't there....

As bad as the players execute, the real tragedy is seeing the elementary level coaching mistakes.
It was embarrassing how bad 1 coach could get things qtong....starting with simple pitching maneuvers

Did we already forget that we were 38-25 (13-17 SEC) last year? We also lost our 2 starting (and best) pitchers from that same team that was one of the last into a regional. We were a fricking 3 seed and sent to Oregon.
I think the expectations (including mine) were way too high this season.
ETA- there are still things that I am disappointed in Jay for, but let’s give it time
