I just chalk it up the guy being young.

After a 4-0 shutout, first question should be about the pitching. Not a negative one about not hitting enough. He will learn

Jay redirected the question to talk about their pitching.

He’s the one writing the articles, shouldn’t he determine what his questions should be about?

Imagine just now following this.

Not saying this was an example of good reporting, but people seemed to like this guy until he started asking the coach and players some questions they didn't find advantageous to answer. Since then, he's been persona non grata with the team and board.

If he asks about the lack of hitting and the answer becomes about the pitching, then the answer about the hitting is that the coach is frustrated with it.

It’s not a non answer. There’s still information there.

It was a non answer. Jay redirected the question to talk about LSU’s pitching

Basically ignored the question and was hint to stop being negative about a 4-0 shutout

So what you thought and inferred was “information” was wrong. Another reason to learn to ask a better question regarding the game

Just because you repeated what you said doesn’t refute what I said.

He needs to ask better questions not to piss off Jay.

It’s obvious hitting was on par and he can certainly put that in his story without asking Jay about it.

Ask a decent positive question first then see if you can get a quote about hitting. It’s going to be “we got to be better” so you already know the answer.

So folks didn’t like the last beat reporter and now they don’t like the new one?

Rant gonna rant.

You said that. That is wrong. Jay later said “the game is hard.” Said we hit some hard balls right at people that if just a little in another direction, would have had more runs and wouldn’t be having that discussion. He is saying we aren’t going to win every game 20-0. If you get that as being frustrated about the offense, don’t know what to tell you.

Some people on here gave him the benefit of the doubt over that dumbass they had last year. Liking him may have been ok until his boss and bosses boss aka ALL POOLANE PEOPLE, decided to pressure this guy into being as stupid and she was. It is a cycle there with all of them.

There will never be another Sam King in Baton Rouge.

And you said he avoided the question. He didn’t. The first part of the question was about how quick the game went, that was the opening to talk about the pitching.

He didn’t piss Jay off with a bad question, he asked an overly long question.

He looked right at him when he said “we could have done some things better.” Which was circling back to fully answe Koki’s question.

That wasn’t fully answering the question. Jay purposefully didn’t answer what Koki really wanted. He knew what the question/statement was getting at. Was very clear at end of the press conference that he wasn’t going to make this negative with a 4-0 shutout.

Go back and listen to the question. Koki said the game was fast tonight “is that not good for you guys?” After a 4-0 shutout. Come on

What did he really want?

You seem to think that the reporters job is to only talk about what the coach wants to talk about. His actual job is to inform readers and tell a story.

Sometimes the story isn’t what the coach wants to talk about.

And there isn’t actually anything wrong with that. For Jay or for Koki.

I’ve been wanting to post this subject for a little while but always held off. I couldn’t agree with you more. He asks terrible questions to start with and then that voice just makes it 10 times more annoying.

He wanted to write an article focusing on Coach complaining about lack of hits/runs from LSU in a 4-0 shutout. Jay didn’t give it to him

And I already said sure he can asks what he wants. Still dumb though

Or did he want to write on an emerging theme of the offense getting shut down by lower conference pitchers with only a week to go before SEC play starts?

This isn’t the first game the bats went cold for a long stretch.

Does Koki hate LSU? It’s been a prerequisite since Dellenger that the writer covering LSU has to hate LSU.

So yeah you want the negative article I see

What do you want Jay to say? “Yeah I really wish everyone would hit line drives where people aren’t and homeruns against the wind so we can score runs at will. And don’t strikeout either.” Ok, there you go
