As much as I hate to admit it, Tony Vitello was outstanding on MLB draft coverage.

Tony Vitello

He crossed the line when he bumped the umpire. But I listened to his post game interview after we beat them in one of the regular season games last year. He was very complimentary of our team and Alex Box's atmosphere.

I don’t think it’s really fair to say Saban did great or poorly. Just seemed like an average commentator

Saban did fine. The draft is a weird event for commentators. You have to basically fill air with conversation about a player. There is only so much you can say about how large or fast someone is. And he’s always been a little awkward when talking about or complementing individual players as opposed to plays, scheme, etc.

Plus he was up there with 3 other people who have been doing this for 20 years together. It’s tough to come in off the street and have the same rapport with them that they do with each other.

He was a hothead coach in his early 40s trying to make a name and build a program at a place that hadn’t had much success. He’s been a total douche countless times but it seems like he’s mellowed some. Their struggles early last season might have humbled him a little or maybe they got his meds right.

We have to remember that nicholastiger is that OP and he misses the mark on most of his posts/threads.
