Doesn't matter righty or lefty. Dude is a K machine. You would think someone with his speed would be able to bunt a little bit. I don't know just get the ball on the ground and run like hell.

Despite the K's and the lack of bunts, he still manages to have one of the highest OBP on the team.

Do some of you guys even look at stats or just spout shite based on how you're feeling at the moment?

You ever open your eyes and pay attention to what's happening in front of you or do you look at stats that give a broad picture of how a guy is doing?

JM against right handers = money

JM against southpaws = chinese fire drill

He has a lot of walks, but you need to study his stats in conference. He put up a lot of numbers against the UNO's and Southeastern's of the World.

His average has dropped from .355 to the .320's in the last month. It's time for a reality check. His Defense is not better than Helenihi's in the OF. His AB's against lefties are not even competitive. Time to platoon him. Run out Landry and Mitchell against Righties, and Ochinko and Helenihi against Left handers, and put Hanover back in.

Pal? Nice touch.

I'll concede the k's. It's an issue, particularly in the last 6 weeks. But to talk about the guy like he's a shitty hitter seems a bit short-sighted. Of course, what the frick does Mainieri know? He needs to visit more internet boards so we can tell him how to use his players.

For the prev poster who wants to say that Mitchell racked up his numbers against Wed's opponents, he did manage to bat well above .300 in the SEC, had one of the best OB% in league play and stole a shite ton of bases.

My ultimate point is that, at this point in the season, you don't bench (or platoon) the guy unless you think he's going to be useless to you in the super. Hopefully, the avg will bump back up.

I think it's gotten so bad that if there is a left hander pitching, that you might as well start somebody else. I was saying it a few weeks ago, but he went 1 for 3 one game against a lefty and I thought, "maybe this is what he needs to snap out of it." He went right back to striking out.

...and I love Jared Mitchel. He's a fellow Berry Boy.

I agree. JM is killing us against LH pitching.
If I were PM, I would sat him against LH pitching until he can hit them better.
He struck out last night several times with runners on 2nd and 3rd to end a rally. Rally Killer.
One thing I do not understand. LH hitter have trouble hitting LH pitchers, so, why isn't it the same for RH hitters against RH pitching?

Denvertiger, stats are for losers. It's easy to see how much he's struggled in the past few weeks of the season. He is a very talented player and we need him to get out of his slump QUICKLY.

?? Do you consider any of the LSU players to have extraordinary stats then? Because his SEC stats aren't bad.

2nd highest Batting Avg. (.333) on team (behind Blake Dean) for those who have started a majority of the games.

The highest OB% on the team.
The most runs scored on the team.
Most walks and most stolen bases on the team.

Of course these are all batting numbers (which most likely came against RHP), but his fielding percentage is not bad at all.

But it's obvious that he's on a downward turn lately, his avg vs. LHP is terrible, and he is a K machine.

So, what do you do? It seems he needs to play in hopes that he'll get of this overall funk (not just against lefties, that will probably never happen) in time for the regional. So, while Helenihi MAY be the better option to put in against lefties, if LSU continues to win in the tourney and faces all lefties from here on out (which seems to be the trend recently), do you let Mitchell sit on the bench until regionals come around?

I think I would rather just have him play and see if he can get out his funk in time for the regionals.

Normally, I would let the player break out of his slump. But let me repeat......He is not even COMPETITIVE in his AB's against lefties. If there was a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs, do you think he would even put a ball in play?? I didn't think so.

It's like having a bad FG kicker. It may not have cost you yet, but eventually, when you need him, it will bite you in the arse.

All of you people complaining about LSU's lack of hitting against lefties are not "real" LSU fans.

I was waiting for the above post so I decided to go ahead and post it myself.

this reminds me of arguing with some tards on here about jarrett lee.

mitchell, against lefties, is bad for the team.

and DJ should probably not be leading off...

You are right...I'm really an Ohio State fan as most of the people here..

Reality shouldn't be scary..
