It may have been suggested in terms of wade being honest about his minutes outlook. I doubt wade said go, but I wouldn’t be surprised if wade told him that if he wanted to play significant minutes, it probably wouldn’t be at lsu this season.

Last year he was better on-call defending than Gaines.

What is his avg vs. Quad 1?

Shame Wade suggested he go.

The family was very vocal about wanting Wade to promise minutes to Cook. Wade didn't. Cook left. If he would have stayed with no promises, well, maybe he would be playing.

Not sure Wade expected Adam Miller to blow out his knee. Cook was going to be a borderline rotation guy, just like last year

That wouldn't have been a good decision. Cook is a very good offensive player. LSU is seriously lacking offensive consistency. Cook put up 19 tonight against Houston. He's a good player and would have helped LSU. It didn't work out though.

Disagree. He wasn’t A better defender than Gaines. He was much better offensively for sure.
He was more ready than Gaines it seemed last year. Probably this year too.

Cook was a WAY better onball defender than Gaines.

Gaines was just taller.

Maybe. Cook didn’t play a ton against teams with a pulse. I do know that Gaines is a more complete, versatile defender who impacts the game in multiple ways and fits LSU’s defensive scheme better than Cook. Not a knock on Cook as much as it is credit to Gaines.

There is a lot of bad to say about Gaines, but this is the worst take I’ve seen on here.

I am talking about last year

Gaines has improved this season, defensively.
