do you think both starting cornerbacks have backups?
yes but if coleman goes to lb, brooks goes to FS and Jai switches sides.
hawkins will be the one getting jumped not PP.

what are you babbling about OLD MAN?
They said Eugene practiced ahead of PP today.
1st team was
S Jones
S Brooks
CB Hawkins
CB Eugene

Is Brooks playing strong safety then? He's clearly very talented, but I would have guessed that he was too small for that position.
Is McCray just going to back-up Jones and Brooks/Coleman at safety? That sounds good to me.

i'd imagine the safety spots are going to be pretty similar allowing basically 2 FSs like when we had Laron and Jack Hunt at the same time. And i'm sure they could let CJ handle more of the in the box run duties on obvious run downs if Brooks can't handle it.
Mccray is still running 2nd team from what all the reports say but i still dont think the media gets to see much more than the players doing hurdlers stretches and jumping jacks.

Les Miles is having a presser tomorrow to announce that Jai is off the team... said "He expects better from Eugene... Went on to say that Jumping fellow teammates, regardless of how many yo momma jokes he has cracked is uncalled for... ended it by saying that he expects big things from Peterson.

According to Glen Guilbeau of the Shreveport time and out of Peterson's mouth, PP is the starter Patrick Peterson Article in Shreveport Times 4/13/09

It's quite possible that article is the reason we're having this discussion.

Just because Eugene was running with the 1's today doesnt mean he has passed PP on the depth chart. No one is passing PP on the depth chart.
And the Coleman to LB deal is not a surprise, it was needed a long time ago.

did Peterson get benched for his "I'm the best CB ever" comments in the Guilbeau article?
quote:
Asked who was running behind him at cornerback recently, Patrick Peterson had a simple answer: “Everybody,” he said with a proud smile. “Oh yeah, I’m full time right now.”
“I want to be the best thing coming out of LSU and the NCAA in a long time.”
He has heard new secondary coach Ron Cooper yelling a lot, but not at him... “He don’t get on me, because I try to do everything right,” Peterson said.
“I’m supposed to be real good, and I want to live up to that,” he said. “I don’t want to just reach my potential. I want to be great.”

Maybe, maybe not. But the more message boards talk about it that rumor will snowball big time.

Isn't Mike still stuck in traffic trying to get to Janzen Jackson's presser?
i bet he was at the movies when he got a text about some sort of presser at Janzen's HS.

Those comments are what we need to hear from Peterson. Good for him.
This is SEC football. Not water polo.

Agreed, he didnt say he was the greatest. I took from it that he understands what is expected of him, embraces it and is striving for greatness.

different people get different looks at different times. pp could have been sick for all we know, or they could have been looking at jai at one corner and pp at the other. you just never know with spring practice crap
bottom line is peterson is probably one of our 3-5 best players, and no way do you let that talent ride the pine
