With the way Tony recruits, they don't need him
The top 5-6 in their batting order is the best in the country. Real next level talent

Nate Snead got his soul taken out of his body by Dalton Beck and Jared Jones.
And errors, and 1:15am, and crowd, and weird turn in momentum
Happens
We know Jones and Beck usually don't do those things against quality pitching. Let's not act like it was Curiel.

I bet this weekend was a really rough one for you.
Posted on 4/30/25 at 1:46 pm to burreauxxx
quote:but they haven’t. LSU has better offensive numbers than Tennessee and better defensive numbers by a mile.
The difference is Tony's teams consistent mash
quote:brasswell hit more home runs this weekend than Tennessee did as a team.
Yeah, when you are a bad defensive team with guys like Thompson, Braswell etc at key defensive positions that ALSO can't hit at a high level, then I'd say you are significantly limiting your team
quote:good coaches teach attention to detail. At no point does attention to detail matter more than the in the bottom of the 9th inning. Another failure by Tony.
a bit of a false equivalency. No teams average 2-3 errors an inning which is what it took to win Friday in the 9th
quote:Russell got shelled. He’s been hurt for 2 years. I’m sure Tony conceded the most pivotal series of his season. 8D chess.
Russell is easing back in and you can tell they've played the long game to concede some weakness early to have him back in a larger role by crunch time.
quote:this just sounds like a coach who doesn’t prepare his guys to play their best when it matters most. Folding like a lawn chair under pressure?
Just be happy we got to Snead with the crowd, weird game time at that point, amounting errors by his defense etc. Happens

So did Tony fail to recruit depth?
How come Jay can't find a DH on a roster loaded with #1 recruiting classes and a ton of NIL money spent on transfers
quote:
Or what about Kilen having to play 2nd because he’s abysmal at short, which results in a sub .200 hitter having to play SS for tenn. sounds like Tony failed to recruit positions of need in the off season.
Sounds like the same sitch with Dickenson and Milam to me

You can't help yourself. You refuse to agree with anything anyone says. It's like it would kill you to admit you're wrong on anything.
You have a mental illness.

How come Jay can't find a DH on a roster loaded with #1 recruiting classes and a ton of NIL money spent on transfers
quote:What are you talking about lol. Milan’s absolute worst and Antigua’s absolute best and they were about even offensively and Milam was better on the defense side.
That SS had every bit as good of a series at the plate as Milam

You mean like the DH hitting .343 and has a 1.135 OPS on the season who just hit a walk off grand slam in our very last game

quote:
Sounds like the same sitch with Dickenson and Milam to me
Milam even in his current slump is hitting near .290 on the season, pretty big stretch to act like the Antigua is anywhere close to him at the plate. Milam also has 21 XBH including 9 home runs slugging .530. Antigua is literally hitting .200 on the season with 1 XBH (a double) in 88 plate appearances. Not to mention, Milam is fielding .981 at SS, while Antigua is fielding .928

Continue to look like a moron, thanks for the laughs.

meh. I prefer their numbers
They do have a black hole or two at the bottom but their top 6 more than make up for it.
They've also played less innings than LSU and haven't had the fortune of playing Mizzou and the crap pre-conference schedule that Jay had

He also ignored mountains of factual data. I listed like 12 categories LSU where has the advantage, across team, batting, pitching, and fielding, and he’ll just say “false”

We played Mizzou 3x and TN never played anyone bad. Therefore all nullified

False.

Agree Frey is the MAN against midweek pitching where he's compiled all his stats

His number in SEC play are absolute trash. Facts

meh. I prefer their numbers
quote:you keep saying this. They make up for it where? Because they don’t make up for it in the win column. They may make up for it on draft boards or something irrelevant.
They do have a black hole or two at the bottom but their top 6 more than make up for it.

They've also played less innings than LSU and haven't had the fortune of playing Mizzou and the crap pre-conference schedule that Jay had

Not in SEC play. Agree he rakes against Purdue-Forte Wayne types

False
Did Florida get credit in 2023 for outplaying LSU in part of game 1 and blowing them out in game 2? You are developmentally disabled. Like not even calling you a retard. You have genuine pattern recognition and cognitive issues.

No, the difference is they had a guy take a line drive off the face last weekend, also AJ Russell just getting back and limited, etc. Great timing for LSU to catch them.
They didn’t lose anyone who had been dependable in SEC games, so you are really grasping at straws with that one. Russell may or may not work his way back to effectiveness, but it’s far from a given. He hasn’t contributed much in 2 years. This is just part of the game like Guidry being out, Sheerin still trying to come back, and Shores and Noot still trying to get back to form coming off injuries. It’s truly amazing how quick you are to make excuses for LSU’s opponents, but never apply the same standard to LSU.
quote:
Meanwhile, they were out of pitching, not because they went all-in to win the first two games (their Fri/Sat starters did all the heavy lifting in those games, they only had a total of 3 relivers throw like 4 inns the first two games )
Like LSU, they have had 2 reliable starters and 2 reliable bullpen arms in SEC play. They used all 4 pitchers in the first 2 games. LSU still had Evans and Cowan available.
quote:
23 errors in over 185 conference innings equates to an error every 8 or so innings -- not 2 errors in one inning to throw away the game
They were still more error prone as a team. It was an inherent flaw in their makeup that led to giving LSU additional opportunities they still had to execute to take advantage of. Outplaying the other team means avoiding negative plays just as much as making positive plays. LSU did both better than Tennessee in that game. That’s baseball.
