Def UTk fan. Frey is safe regardless of the high throw. Brown tattooed that ball and ate him up. If Curley is such a liability at 3rd then why didn’t Vitello replace him defensively with the lead??
quote:. The boys took advantage and passed the bat. I would argue that the bush league shite that Vitello pulled in the 8th probably cost a scoring opportunity by icing Larson. We had momentum and the umps should’ve forced them to make a pitching change. It was a stall tactic to ice Larson and let his LH pitcher get ready that had just gotten and moving around. Vitello never made a change in the 9th. LSU outplayed coached and played them.
Just be happy they gave that one to us.
Doyle and Phillips were lights out.

Thats true. Only if you ignore lsu throwing 2 wild pitches that led to 2 tennessee runs that night. And the 3 390 foot missiles lsu hit deep to centerfield that got caught at the track.
Which, lets be honest, you want to forget those
They outhit us 2-1 the first two games on our own field
And that's now counting many balls they barreled up on Anderson, Eyanson, Cowan etc that were luckily hit to someone
Their best was better than our best, but I guess if you want to wear the purple shades then gone a put em on mane

You just haven't been in the right threads I guess

We have better stats across the board for the season. It’s really not even debatable lol.

Yet we still outscored them 8-6 during this same duration through the first 16 innings. Those hits and barrels didn’t amount to shite, you see? It wasn’t until the 8th inning in GM 2 that they broke through.

Yeah ok. Outside of Doyle and Phillips, LSU held their best down all weekend.

It’s clear Tony had put an emphasis on offense aside from SS.

Definitely fortunate Tenn staff didn’t come in at 100%, with Russell, Wiggins etc down or limited

Don’t forget about Tears.

You also cannot ignore Game 3 no matter how hard you try to wish that one away.
False. I acknowledged Casan and Curiel saved the game for us

It's also true that injuries have limited the depth of their staff right now and we were the benefactor of timing. Happens
quote:
Do you not recognize how incredibly inconsistent these two statements are? It was luck that Tennessee’s staff had a meltdown, but domination on Tennessee’s part that they roughed up the backend of LSU’s staff? This was the direct result of the different strategies employed by each coach.
No, the difference is they had a guy take a line drive off the face last weekend, also AJ Russell just getting back and limited, etc. Great timing for LSU to catch them.
Were Tennessee's starters on Fri/Sat better than LSU's? Yes.
Was LSU's pitching depth better last weekend due to circumstances? Yes.
I agree 100% that Casan's performance won that series for us. He showed something that had never been previously tried, and secured the Sunday role. Meanwhile, they were out of pitching, not because they went all-in to win the first two games (their Fri/Sat starters did all the heavy lifting in those games, they only had a total of 3 relivers throw like 4 inns the first two games

quote:
Tennessee has committed 23 errors in conference play
quote:
This wasn’t some random occurrence.
23 errors in over 185 conference innings equates to an error every 8 or so innings -- not 2 errors in one inning to throw away the game

I'd say LSU should feel very lucky to get that series win.

Except at catching ground balls? Scoring runs? You know like doing baseball stuff? lol not an objective view at all and you’re full of shite with zero baseball knowledge.
So Auburn > LSU by a mile since it was a sweep and not even really close?

Except it wasn't. Dean Curley was shite all weekend. Nate Snead got his soul taken out of his body by Dalton Beck and Jared Jones.

Another potentially decent thread derailed by this jackass troll.

How did Tennessee star Dylan Dreiling do in this series?
With the way Tony recruits, they don't need him

The top 5-6 in their batting order is the best in the country. Real next level talent
Jay has Pearson & Frey batting cleanup lolll

Just admit that you were wrong. One time. Just fricking admit that you were wrong.

So did Tony fail to recruit depth? Because Jay is dealing with multiple arm injuries to key contributors and we were able to shut down their offense for 2 of the 26 innings they had to hit this weekend. It would be 27, but LSU run ruled Tennessee on Sunday. You had probably already turned the game off by then.
Then we get to the errors. That seems like a coaching problem, no? Or what about Kilen having to play 2nd because he’s abysmal at short, which results in a sub .200 hitter having to play SS for tenn. sounds like Tony failed to recruit positions of need in the off season. Meanwhile Dickinson is hitting the ball and playing stellar defense. Kilens inability to play good defense not only moved Curley to 3rd (where he made errors) but it also took away another bat.
Also, any comment on Tony’s two big freshman getting shelled on the mound and being relegated to pinch hitter because he can’t hit SEC pitching?

LSU has a higher ELO and RPI than Tennessee, is ranked higher than Tennessee in 3 of the 4 polls, and is tied with Tennessee in conference standings (with a better BA, ERA, Fielding percentage, OBP, more stolen bases, more strikeouts, better batting average against, more sacrifice bunts, 36 fewer stolen bases allowed, etc.) and that will all also be ignored.

odd that you shite on Jay for this but it’s fine for Tony.
The difference is Tony's teams consistently mash

Yeah, when you are a bad defensive team with guys like Thompson, Braswell etc at key defensive positions that ALSO can't hit at a high level, then I'd say you are significantly limiting your team

quote:
they have the worst fielding percentage in the SEC.
a bit of a false equivalency. No teams average 2-3 errors an inning which is what it took to win Friday in the 9th

quote:
including this year with Guidry and Sheerin out.
They've been out. Tennessee just had a guy take a shot off his face last weekend. Russell is easing back in and you can tell they've played the long game to concede some weakness early to have him back in a larger role by crunch time.
So I would say these two things are not quite the same. Just be happy we got to Snead with the crowd, weird game time at that point, amounting errors by his defense etc. Happens
