Really looking forward to watching this kid throw again - potentially could be one of the more elite arms to ever wear the purple and gold

All depends on the rest of the staff and his stamina. If he can throw in the mid 90's for 60+ pitches then it would be tough to keep him in the dugout.

How is this even a question? He's the Friday Night starter.

If he can show in practice and bullpen that he is healthy and has the stamina, he starts. How are you going to recruit elite power arms from your competitors or the MLB if you have a track record of just throwing them to the pen ?

They want tape of them starting for pro draft potential.

Which is more detrimental to the arm, starting once a week on a set routine

-or-

pitching 3 times a week at maximum effort with additional warm up throws mixed in and uncertainty on routine?

I can tell you what injury patterns in the major leagues would say, but somehow you think it's some debate.

Man they don't give a frick. We're living in the power fastball era. The guy is throwing 98 at LSU. His arse is gonna be fine regardless as a starter or closer.

He's going to start. Mainieri has even publicly made this known.

Also you have Devin Fontenot and Ty Floyd who are going to be dominant setup and closer whichever falls into each category.

They won’t be worth a shite if they can’t figure out how to hit. The pitching should be solid though.

I'd be more interested to hear see the clock on pitch 90. If he can't produce pitch count, he'll be relegated to a closer role and given our hitting lately he won't get many save opportunities.

Devin Fontenot is collecting social security right now with ZVR.

Nobody is drafting a pitcher in the first round to immediately make them a closer.

Gas is right. FITZ - fearless in the zone!

Can't wait to see the team in action this season.

I get your point, but a lot of MLB teams put guys with health risk in the BP.

It will be interesting to see how a season off helps the pitcher. Almost 9 months without the weekly wear and tear.

I agree with Adam, all the SEC teams are going to have an increase in talent.

This should make the elite pitchers more valuable since most teams will have good depth in the bullpen.

I also think players that can hit quality pitchers will have an increased value. I can't wait to see what the bats will do next year.
