Is that final press conference by Kelly before he left Baton Rouge today fake?

I don’t know what that even means. The reports that Kelly has accepted a reduced buyout are obviously fake- it has not been reported by anyone, including Jacques. It’s not on his Facebook, it’s not on his X account.

Not to say that there won’t be any agreement down the road, a slight reduction would make sense for a few reasons. But again, this is literally FAKE NEWS

The powers that be met with Kelly Sunday morning. There was no discussion about assistants. Kelly was told he was out, period. LSU was moving on without him.

I believe this to be true. It is possible that Kelly might have offered to fire Sloan and Davis, but it was immaterial to the discussion at hand.

It wasn't about the loss. It was about everything leading up to the loss and the loss itself. Kelly was fired for the aTm game. He was fired for 2022 - 2025.

Period.

Your original position was that LSU wouldn’t agree to a negotiated buyout. But OK, sure:

For the record, my original position is that Kelly would not take a reduced buyout. Of course LSU would want pay less and hold on to money for the next coach.

I think he was fired for 2024-2025.

The offensive drop off after JD left killed any momentum we had. Apathy set in for the fan base.

And unless his lawyer was present, no way he agreed to any buyout deal. That would be crazy.

Fair enough. I now see where you made that argument further back in the thread.

I was referring to the first post that I replied to:

If LSU claimed a violation of a “morality clause” (the existence and particulars of which remain speculative) that was bad enough for Kelly to settle for half, why not void the contract altogether and not pay a dime? Seems like TAF and its donors would want to hold onto that money to pay a new coach.

There is very little reason to believe that a negotiated buyout has been finalized. This sort of thing takes time.

However, I do think it’s completely plausible that LSU said “hey, we’ve let some things slide here for a while…so let’s agree to a lower number and we can all walk away happy.”

A signed and agreed negotiated buyout will in no way reference some violation of the morals clause which clearly exists so a coach can be fired for cause with zero buyout. And Kelly wouldn’t sign a negotiated settlement that included some admission of that.

Scott Woodward needs to go frick himself and get the frick away from the LSU football team. Most of this is his problem.
