JJ. Is such a great defensive asset at 2nd...he can never be taken out of the lineup except for midweek play. As long as this lineup is putting up great offensive numbers...he will be in the field

I agree. Him getting on base around a 40% clip and hitting around .250 is fine with me

I thought he looked bad at the plate last night. Swung at some bad pitches and didn't do anything with the good ones. I'll stay positive though, and hope he gets it going against Missouri.

Well he hit a double that was wrongly called foul and almost took the third baseman's head off in another AB, but yea he's really struggling right now.

No doubt. With his excellent defense, I'd be happy with .250.

At least his attitude, at least outwardly, is better than when he struggled last year.

Can you imagine how potent our lineup would be if we could get .250+ out of Jones and Ross the rest of the way?

I think jones just needs to be in Omaha to get back on track.

I think the sec is making jones and ross struggle to promote a fair playing field

I didn't see last nights game but I can say this. He looks like he is doing a better job at the plate this year than last year. Not talking about % but instead talking about his eye.

But is there any doubt that he is cursed? Some voodoo witch put the hex on him that is for sure!

He is making better contact and walking more, but he's still chasing pitches waaayy out of the zone. I don't know if we have a good option to replace him. Hopefully, he gets going in the 2nd half of the season.

Even great hitters get fooled and chase pitches every now and then. I'm not saying he's a great hitter, but he is having quality at bats this year. He is doing a better job of laying off breaking pitches, but he appears at times to be thinking curveball and getting fooled on a fastball.

He's really lacing some foul balls, hes on a tear

Even if you count the foul ball as a double he is 2 for his last 21. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that would be considered a little bit of slump.

So are you one of those fans who is going to cheer against a player so you can be right about him on a message board? I bet you were every time he got out last night.

Ha! I'm not one of those fans. I want the guy to get it together. If he does, he'll make a really good baseball team a lot better. I guess I just don't understand how so many ppl treat him as if he's some untouchable god of a second baseman...when he's really just given average production. But hey, there's a lot of baseball left to be played. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he can find a groove at the plate.

I respect that. I see him as a 5 tool guy who has so much potential that you have to let him work his way out of it. Obviously no one on the bench gives CPM a better option so JJ has to work through his slump, however long that may be. I didn't watch last night but I know he has been getting unlucky in a few at bats.

This is very true. If he finds a groove, LSU will be very tough to beat.

You don't bench a player unless the change produces an improvement to your team. As hard as it is to imagine, given Jones' offensive ineptitude, but he may be the best choice available to CPM at second base.

That said, I wouldn't be outraged to see someone else get an opportunity to produce if only to give Jones a chance to regroup.

Some players can play through a slump while others only become more mired in it due to the confidence trauma a slump produces.

I know baseball, more than any other sport, values potential but Jacoby needs to start playing up to that potential.

I honestly think his problem is swinging too hard. He tries to kill the ball in every at bat.
