So JV was supposed to "fix" TM7's drug problem? If he was blamed for that, pretty unfair. From what I've heard TM7 was like a freight train. Hate to hear he'd be blamed for that mess.

I wish him luck. Lots of us had good times at bars in college. Thank God that didn't reflect on my job four years later....

Well, at least we don't have to worry about him riding on the back of a motorcycle with Les.

Hopefully...

His two runs against UGA in the 2003 SEC Championship game were epic...his long run in the National Title game was awesome too.

In two straight HUGE games, he had runs of 87, 62 and 64 yards.

My dad and I were in the upper ring but right in the middle of the field. It was like a video game view. That 87 yard run looked like it was on a chalkboard. Every person made a block and Vincent swung out wide and hit the hole, then used a ref to avoid a tackler.

He would have scored on the other long run but he ran out of gas.

I remember him mostly for his performance in the sec and bcs championship games. He was a beast. He fell back some after that a little.
I don't know him personally. Maybe he can help explain to the players how much his performance suffered due to the partying some here said he did a lot of.
Maybe he can help them not make some of the same mistakes but I understand that trying to tell a college aged kid something normally falls on death ears. Still , I'm glad that he is here. I like former NFL players returning to lsu. It's good for recruiting to have former NFL players , especially ones with superbowl rings, here when recruits come so they see first hand that playing at lsu can lead them to the NFL.

So the guy who lived in tigerland is going to mentor lsu football students? Hopefully he's changed his ways.

It's best to have a mentor who can connect with the players. A coach for the most part can't do it on the level JV probably can. If iirc, JV never got into any trouble off the field. Players are going to go out and party regardless, best to have a wingman that is at least responsible and can keep altercations and situations to a minimum.

This imo is needed

From all accounts he is getting paid WELl & does project a good image to younger players & recruits. I'd like to presume he's grown up & matured as I am sure there are more than a few former players looking for similar positions, so he must have stood out in some capacity. Glad to have him back on campus & representing LSU.

JV flat out told me (16 months ago) that he despises Les Miles and loves him some Nick Saban.

Why is he working at LSU if he hates Miles so much over working at Alabama where he loves Saban?

Well only 8 months ago I despised CLM, but I'm over that now.
So maybe JV is putting LSU first.
