It’s time we do away with the 7 & 18 jersey tradition

The past few seasons it’s been more of a curse than a blessing. Jonathan Giles gave 7 up he was so bad and Delpit couldn’t tackle a first grader last season until week 12. Stevens has been like a ghost for 2 of the 3 games this year. As far as 18 goes, it’s supposed to go to the team leader but from what I’ve seen so far, neither Clark or Curry are leading this team. There’s no fire, no swag, and no heart.

The traditions are fine. I don’t think there should be 2 # 7’s or 18’s though. Marshall is balling the frick out right now, and someone needs to step up as a leader to earn 18

The numbers shouldn't be picked in the preseason unless it's blatantly obvious who should get it. Puts too much pressure on guys before the season even starts. If there was an option to choose who gets it to this point of the season, Marshall is emphatically worthy of 7 and honestly my pick for 18 through 3 weeks would be Myles Brennan.

ETA: Things like Giles would never happen if we did this

I thought 18 was designated for a team leader and a guy that wasn't the most talented but would lead by example and do whatever it takes. Not sure if Clark is any of that so far?

Last season, Delpit played through an ankle injury and it cost him in the NFL Draft. Delpit is a special talent. It's hard for me to throw stones at a kid who gave his everything out there, including playing through an injury. As he got healthy, his play improved and so did the defense as a unit.

Don't agree with Delpit comments, but the numbers have really been tarnished by Giles, Stevens, Curry and CLARK!
Curry hasn't screwed anything up, he just does not seem like a particularly talented player or one that is likely to be on the field long enough to assert himself as a leader.

Who gives a shite. I builds the brand and the kids like it. Every time ESPN runs a history of #7 and highlights players such as PP7, Matthieu, LF7, Chark, and delpits big sacks in the SECCG and CFP it builds the brand. If you don't like it then don't worry about it.

TBH we've had issues with a lot of issues with our #7s not finishing strong at LSU outside of PP7 and Chark(Delpit was fine too other than it was obvious he was hurt at times last year)

Mathieu- Kicked out before last year
Fournette- played hurt most of his last year and basically quit by the end
Giles- lol
Chase- got the number and quit before the season started

Maybe it's time to give up on it

It’s because they’re not issued to the right players. #7 belongs on a DB and #18 to the offensive captain.
