It's retaliation, which is likely illegal

The amended complaint relies substantially on LSU's institutional position, Lane Kiffin's statements, LSU's challenges to the SEC's rules, and Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill's legal and public opposition to the SEC. The amended filing even adds Murrill as a defendant and cites her public criticism of the conference.
If LSU is expelled, in part because LSU officials, its coach, or Louisiana officials went to court, supported litigation, criticized SEC policy or refused to abandon rights being litigated, LSU could claim the expulsion as retaliation.
SEC institutions are governed mostly by state governments and elected officials, as well as people like university presidents who are tightly intertwined with state governments and will be casting the deciding votes. LSU is going to get a massive payday if they vote us out and we counter sue.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one. Does she not have a first amendment right to public speech?

It's funny that the SEC added the AG to their 1A suit because she said mean things about the SEC.

It’s clear retaliation.
Every time a mechanism of blocking this gets restrained, they try a new mechanism.
Sankey literally just had to defend the SEC against contempt in the last hearing. A vote to expel would be immediately litigated lol.

Defamation lawsuit against the sec may come after this. If lsu gets kicked out without cause, the lawsuit against the sec will be over 1billion dollars imo with revenue and reputation over the next year.

It will be way more than 1 billion because you'd have anti-trust lawsuits in there as well. More like several billion that would drag out of years but in the long run LSU would rake in the benefits. Would also be the end of the SEC as LSu takes a giant dump on them with their way out.

Only thing I can think of is the AG can’t represent anyone in the suit due to conflict now. It’s really dumb

That is entirely possible. The issue now becomes the judge. I live in Mobile, some around say she is hand picked and likely biased.

She's the chief law enforcement officer of the state. The SEC must have forgotten that it is her duty to defend the state against any of these types of lawsuits.

She's a fairly new federal judge who probably has her eyes on a position on the appeals court. Doubtful that she would do anything questionable.

This is another angle that I find fascinating. At a time when they are all in on passing legislation to "protect college athletics", partially by exempting the NCAA from certain anti-trust laws, the SEC decides to go full retard and show exactly why they shouldn't be exempt from such laws.
