The play calling helped.
Most throws were short quick single read throws. Did you see his deep passes down the sidelines? They were badly overthrown.

Then we threw 3 passes in the entire 2nd half. Not like there was some huge sample size

QB due to his completion percentage while in high school. Then he comes out and looks to be more accurate than our starting QB. Goes to show you that many on here don't know shite about evaluating talent.

Finley looked pretty accurate on shorter throws, but on second watch, receivers had to break routes and reach for some mid-range throws and he missed several downfield throws badly. So he is much less accurate than Brennan in one phase of the passing game. Care to generalize some more? What am I saying. It’s tRant. Of course you will.

Look, it’s not like either QB can’t stand improve and I’m not knocking or crowning either one of them yet. None of our 3 QBs is the complete package. They all have areas they need to work on. Given time, hopefully they all will.

Brennan certainly has improved notably since the State game. It also looks like Finley has since last year, because it wasn’t just tRant that questioned his accuracy. Recruiting analysts said the same thing. Just let it play out.

Is it possible that Ensminger and linehan worked with him enough to get the accuracy up. Finley still has bad footwork. Whatever. Glad we have him.

Come on Man!
Its one game. He followed the game plan. He looked great. He appears to have a bright future.

Brennan is our starting QB. He has performed at a very high level. Best three game start of any of our QBs.

First time in history of LSU that we are so blessed with QB talent.

You don't have to be accurate with our receivers

His first few passes were off the mark (Gilbert and Marshall did a good job of reaching behind them to make the catch on poorly thrown slants). But after that he was terrific. His accuracy combine with his arm strength led to at least two slants being HUGE gains. He put the ball on both Jenkins and Marshall so quickly and accurately that it allowed them to get great YAC.

The ONE thing we didn't see him do a lot was throw passes with touch. However, one of his best throws was the first TD to Marshall. Yes, the route broke Marshall wide open. But that was a beautiful arching throw.

Obviously I'm just a fan like everyone else. But I try to be fair, objective and critical. That said, I don't think anyone could have asked for more in his first ever start. In fact, from just a pure throwing perspective he is a BETTER thrower than Brennan. Brennan has a strong arm. But he also has a long wind up and throws the ball a bit more like a 3rd baseman than QB. He also has a bit of a long stride and low release which somewhat mitigates his height.

There is much, much more to being a great QB than simply being a good thrower. But with ONE game of evidence it definitely seems like there is a lot of good to work with in Finley.

Goes to show you that people on this board will repeat what ever validates what they want to believe with no information.

Both Freshmen had accuracy criticism by professional talent evaluators. Also, doesn't mean they were right either. However, statiscally weren't they around 50%? I honestly have no idea.

I don't know what all goes into it, but I'm not sure why you feel the need to be defensive about people being skeptical of either quarterback out of High School.

Nobody knew anything except the people allowed to see practices which is very few. All we had was a set of data that was from the last time people saw him play. Now we have a more current picture. It's nothing to gloat over either way. I wish TJ the best and hope he is wildly successful. Hell even Coach didn't know who would start at the beginning of that week.

He was recruited by other big time programs as well. It's not like he was a chump that no one wanted.

Now this is fair.

Committable offer list is far more telling than overall ranking.

Finley definitely has some serious upside.

Those passes are so quick to arrive that, if they are not perfect, some will go through the WR’s hands and be intercepted, possibly.

he threw behind marshall and marshall turned and went the other way for 30-40 yds..

i saw the kid play twice in high school and he was very inaccurate because he didnt have touch on the ball... he always had a cannon.. i like his quick release. I thought he did very well last week, and honestly, id love to see him this week vs auburn... i wouldnt play miles till he is 100%, no reason to.

I saw WRs wide open and plenty of time to throw. several reasons because of this.. OL play, running game, play calling.. thought slinger called a great game. I think Finely runs the RPO better because you have basically 3 options. Throw/RB run/and a threat of Finely to run... thats the dynamic you miss with brennan. Finely could actually get 3-7 yds running the ball. hes not fast, but i thought he looked like a little better runner than JRussell
