It was refreshing to have a decent ump behind the plate

Agree. A good ump is not noticed.

Wish that guy did every game.
He may have missed 1 or 2 pitches all night & those were probably close. Was consistent & zone was where I was taught it should be.

Yep. He was a pro. The college game needs more like him.

I liked that he was saying why it was a ball. Unlike Stevie Wonder last night

As a former HS umpire, I was told not to do that. Just say “ball.” So that caught my attention.

Instead of a guy that called strikes at the ankles to someone throwing low every single pitch? I agree

That was the same home plate ump from the Wake Forest game.

All we really want is consistency. And he did that. The last two we had were the worst at either changing the zone completely to the one inning that cost us the game where even balls throw right over the plate for a strikeout was a ball. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen. They absolutely have to get more like the one that called today!

I just think Floyd and White pissed him off against Wake. Rung White up in 1st inning against Tennessee on obvious ball still pissed from last game. Then when Ack struck Moore out and Moore argued. Ack's Strike zone got huge.
