I think Fraley and Robertson are the next Tiger stars, but unfortunately they'll probably wait till next year to be everyday starters.

Infield next year will be sick with Hale, Bregman, Robertson, and Deichmann. Plus Zardon and Dean.

Per my conversation with Kim Jong Ir on Saturday at lunch, the arm on a catcher is like fourth on the list of important things the catcher needs to do.

I understand Tyler doesn't have the strongest arm, but I also think he's really agile and nimble behind the plate as far as blocking the ball.

I've seen both Chinea and Sciv let easy balls pass them by - for passed balls - that let the runner advance. But CPM is giving up on Tyler because he had a few inaccurate throws...

ULL noticed our(his) weakness and took advantage of that which led to all of the steals. If you thought that was bad, wait until SEC play starts. PM is making the right move.

You seem mad, having a bad arm is definitely a problem for a catcher.

Also "clutch factor" is a myth

"Clutch" is nothing more than the combination of ability and confidence meeting at an opportunity. Tyler is good enough to play every day, as are the 2 other guys that may take his place.

That's just my opinion, not about Tyler but about athletes in general.
People way overrate "clutchness". A guy can be a career .300 hitter but if he strikes out a few times in big situations all of a sudden he's not clutch? It's stupid IMO.

people are often labeled clutch when they really arent or vice versa. Clutch is often driven way more by perception than actual data.

I'm not saying thats the case with Moore, but it's definitely misconstrued often.

Exactly.

Anyway this has nothing to do with Tyler, I like him a lot actually

Being clutch is real thing IMO. People label him that because he got big hits at big moments.

I dont have a dog in the fight of who plays catcher or where Moore plays, if at all... But does it seem like PM throws his players under the bus a lot more than other coaches? Or is that just me?

Describe "throw under the bus."

I sometimes get the same feeling, but I think it's more about Paul being more candid and vocal with the media than just about any college baseball coach in the country. He doesn't often hide things from the people that follow the program. And I think that transparency is very refreshing.

However, I do think he is a very stubborn coach, not unlike one of LSU's other head coach across Nicholson.

I'm guessing he's talking about where PM talks about how Moore doesn't have a strong arm. You don't usually hear coaches admit things like that about players

"We lost the game because our Catcher isn't good enough to throw runners out."

That's how you throw someone under the bus.

PM just told the truth. Tyler Moore is a big boy and I doubt he's nearly as upset as some of the people on this board are.

Bingo.

Also, I'm ok with it if he's just more candid than most coaches... Just sometimes comes off a little distasteful, at least reading the transcript. Not like I heard it live... Just often notice how what PM says really irks me.

Like I said, I don't have a dog in the fight, nor do I care where Moore plays, if at all. Let the best men play. My question was a broad one, not specific to this particular PM quote.

Absolutely. Sometimes there's nothing wrong with this either.
