There are a million pieces of the puzzle that make a guy a great coach. Maybe he's a great recruiter, maybe he has a great relationship with his players and they play hard for him, maybe he's a great developer of talent and can "make" a kid better, maybe he's a great manager of the game, etc. I don't recall anyone here saying that Mainieri is not a good coach and that he should be fired. I have seen that about another piece of the coaching staffm, but not Mainieri. Even the greatest coaches are not immune to making mistakes, big and small.

Many posters here follow this baseball team almost to a fault. We watch the team all season long, and many here even go to the practices both fall and spring. It does not make anyone more qualified than the coach, but it does help develope opinions about the team. This is a place that we all can DISCUSS the LSU baseball team. There is nothing wrong with good dialogue about the program that many posters here have. I can 100% guarantee you that Paul Mainieri would rather coach here at a place where fans show up at practice, show up by the thousands for regular season games, and keep up with the team on message boards for months at a time. Even with the criticism on those message boards, it shows that there is great interest in the program, moreso than any other place in college baseball.

Making a complaint, gripe, or joining in on a discussion about a lineup, bunting situation, pitching change, etc. does not make one a bad fan.

You think we can form a committee and charge people to talk about baseball? We'll have special guests. Ex players who got processed by Mainieri can be the inaugural meeting guests of honor. Don't know if we'll have enough room for all of them.
