Our d is probably not as talented but hopefully our o is better. Going 3 and out the entire 2nd half of games didn't help our stats last yr. Our d may have been the best in the country last year but the stats don't bear b/c our shitty o kept them on the field the whole damn game.

This isn't the NFL. A defense that "returns" 7-8 starters is almost always going to be BETTER than it was the year before. Especially when so many of them were 18-19 years old last year. Seriously, where is the logic coming from? LSU's defense was considered VERY young by most standards last year, this year they are STILL young, but much older than they were last year.

I love the beginning of this thread:
snaknquack's signature block says he's in "Pinot Noir Country."
The first reply is from tigerdup07, whose avatar is a bottle of Old Charter.
Kinda says it all.

yes i think LSU fans are expecting a much better offense. Hell, get our O back in the top 100 (

Points given up is a poor stat to measure a defense on in full.
If a QB throws a pick 6 then is that really the Defenses fault? If the Offense fumbles on the 2 yard line do you fault the defense? Someone returns a punt on your do you fault the defense too?

Dyer minus Cam Newton.
Trent Richardson.
Bolden
Who else? LMJ from Oregon doesn't count. He's not a 'beast'. Very productive, very fast.. Noel Devine basically. If Kniles Davis hadn't busted his leg he would probably be the 5th best RB we would see all season.

Last year we had one guy, Nevis, getting some penetration in the backfield and thats partially by Chavis's design.
If Chavis alters his scheme and brings the dawgs I think the D will be better. He likes to play soft and read and react to avoid the big plays instead we still give up big plays. Most of the time we get nickled and dimed to death then toughen up toward the redzone.
An aggressive D that can force 3 and outs will give the offense a better chance at succeeding and get into a rythem.

Might be the only way LSU catches Oregon.

IMHO
DB's about the same or a little better. We THINK they will be better. But basically a tie.
LB's worse due to losing Sheppar but better at the other to spots. So basically a wash.
Line and DE's. Worse for losing Nevis but getting number 99 back will offset that a bit. And the rest of the positions should see a little better play.
So all in all that means slightly better. Injuries this year on d will not be as costly as we are deeper than last year. And given that the D will be more evenly skilled across the board that should make double teams and picking on certain weaknesses less effective. So that could be another slight advantage for this years D.

That's probably how I would describe the returning Doak Walker award winner and Hesiman Trohpy Finalist. Obviously the people making those decisions don't know anything about RB's. He'll he probably wouldn't even get more than 10 touches with any SEC team.

Against BCS conference teams, LSU gave up 21 or more points in 7 of 11 games...including the last 6 of the year.
Duck Bait!!
(all in fun)

Extremely productive. He'd be the 4th or 5th best RB in the SEC.
Gerhart won the Doak Walker too.. but I'm not sure he's a "beast" either. He probably should have won the heisman though. Ridley was productive.. but that didn't make him a "beast".
Trent Richardson, Lattimore, Dyer, Davis.. all would probably be ahead of LMJ in the SEC. LMJ just isn't that freakish. Spencer Ware > LMJ

not even close. Our D was incredibly overrated the 2nd half of the season. Ole Miss went up and down the field on us.
Our Dline should be much better this year, so I'd say we should be better

Dumbass, you have to consider the conference we play in...versus what you play in...BRING IT ON.. will be glad when this game is played, so we don't have to listen to DUCK shite ALL SEASON...
