FWIW-I think we pull it off but it will probably be a nail biter. Something between what we did in 2009 and 2011 up there. Remember, last year was a 20 point win, but they were on the goal line ready to score a touchdown when Loston returned the pick 100 yards for a 14 point swing.

LSU was up 30-17 with 1:13 to go. There was no way they were going to beat us.

2009's run game was terrible and we played in mud. it is the same reason we lost against Penn State. Also this was Chavis' first year with the defense and he was turning it around.

OL from 08, JJ and WRs from 09, run game from 2011 and defense from 2011=domination

Huge trap game. But I have no idea how bad MSU will be. They could even finish last in the division

It's possible but they should be our least concern. Didn't they lose a lot of people?

The early 90s and then the late 90s were the most wretched times in LSU Football history. MSU didn't beat us but TWICE in the 90s.
Since 2003, LSU is elite, this is still the Golden Age of LSU Football, and you're worried about a sorry MSU squad beating us? I mean, of course it CAN happen, but there's absolutely no sense in starting a thread about it in late July.

MSU is going to be trying to recover from last season, hoping to become the best SEC team in Mississippi. (also known as 4th or 5th in the SECW)

Did I really sound panicked? I mean, it doesn't appear that you actually read the post. My point is that this is not an automatic "W."

Nothing is an automatic W. you would have been better off giving the game a % chance of win/loss so as not to incur the wrath of the Rantards. Take it from one who knows.

You people bring this shite up every single season. LSU continues to own Mississippi schools, especially St. Get real. This topic is so frustrating, bc LSU is superior in every phase.

It's definitely in a bad spot on the schedule, you're correct. But we own State....

Gotta love having a qb expected to throw for 250 plus against msu. We will win and they will throw for 350 plus.

They return 3 WRs with 307 yards total and 3 TDs from last year.

They also lose both starting corners from a pass defense ranked 45th last year where Mett carved them up for 271 and 2 TDs(2nd best performance to Bama).

They bring back Perkins and Russell but I don't think that will be nearly enough.

we've won 13 in a row and 19 out of 20.

20 out of 21.

And what does that matter?

They have played us really tough in Starkville the last two times we've played there

So?

What do they have this year versus what we have this year that makes you think they will beat us?

This one will be a tough out at the very least, I'm afraid.

Maybe. Maybe not. If our players are better and our coaches are better, why would we lose? Our streak on them is not some kind of magic. We beat them every year because we are better than they are. Why would that suddenly change?

Actually 3 times. 1990, 1991 and 1999.

Following up a tough Kent State team, and improved Auburn team, and showdown at Georgia, this is a classic trap road game before Florida comes to BR.

Trap game?

1992: LSU opens at home with nationally ranked Texas A&M the week before MSU, plays a big game at Auburn the week after. LSU is a 2-9 team (worst team in our history), MSU challenges for the SEC West title, losing a close game to Bama late in the season to get eliminated.

Score: LSU 24, MSU 3

1993: Same as above, A&M the week before, Auburn after, LSU again sucks, MSU again thought they were good, but weren't.

Score: LSU 18, MSU 16

1994: Same as above. A&M (tough loss) the week before, Auburn next. Classic trap game. MSU again good. LSU again bad, although still hoping to be good.

Score: LSU 44, MSU 24

1995: Yet another trap game. #3 A&M the week before, #5 Auburn the week after. On the road in Starkville in between. State is expected to be good, we aren't.

Score: LSU 34, MSU 16

2003: Tigers beat Georgia 17-10 in one of the most intense games in Tiger Stadium's afternoon history the week before. The week after is Florida, which at the time seemed like a big game (and we did lose to them anyway). MSU in between, at Starkville.

Score: LSU 41, MSU 6

2004: Sandwiched between a tough loss at Auburn and a big game at Georgia the next week.

Score: LSU 51, MSU 0

Those are the supposedly "trap" game situations we've had against MSU in the last 20+ years or so.

We have better players and better coaches. We beat them every year because of that. We will have better players and better coaches this year. We may lose, because any game can always be lost, but every rational indication is that the streak will reach 14 this year.
