I think it is a bit absurd to buy in to the argument that because the SEC is "down" - that LSU must be relegated to some lower seed and decrease their chance of advancing.

Florida has recently won a couple of Nat. Championships over the last couple of years - out of an SEC that was otherwise ho-hum. Maybe Tennessee was ok, but KY has been down, down for a while. No team from the West has done crap in the regular season for a while - hell - since LSU's final 4 run in 2006 - and LSU was a 10 loss team heading into the tournament.

I've got to think that LSU will start getting some major news props soon. The team just keeps getting better. Depth is an issue, but depth was an issue on the 06 team.

Regardless of what happens in the tourny, this has been a great season for basketball.

You're missing the point. The point isn't the SEC schedule and results. It's the abysmal OOC schedule. LSU's ENTIRE resume is their SEC play. LSU needs to schedule 2-3 perrenial top 25 teams OOC each year. Then they'll have the complete resume in a "down" year for the SEC.

I'd imagine you'd get at least a 3 seed if you win out, because:

a) you're in a major conference (even though it's the worst of the majors), and
b) you'd have 30 wins

No matter how poor the schedule, I can't see a 30-4 team (that won both it's conf reg season and tourney) from one of the top 6 conferences not getting at least a 3 seed.

Two things are wrong with your original post

1. If committee members represent a conference they are required to leave the room when those teams are discussed

2. The Chair of the Committee this year is Mike Slive, The SEC Commissioner.

That's my point. Further - I think that if u seeded the tournament today, LSU would get a 3 or 4 because of the domination of the SEC, conference championship and number of wins. No way they stack in the first 16 that many Big East & ACC teams that would have 7 losses against a major conference champ with only 4 losses. No way. I am sure if ESPN was seeding the tourny, that's the way they'd do it, because every knows ESPN hates LSU. But ESPN is not seeding the tournament.
