There are only maybe a handful of people in this whole state that can kick a football consistently 70+ yards with the hangtime required by Les Miles. And maybe 1 or 2 are in college. This coming from someone all state in soccer and an all district kicker in the Catholic League. If they were allowed to line drive the football the options would increase.

IF YOU KNOW A SOCCER PLAYER THAT CAN KICK THE CRAP OUT OF A BALL WHO CHOSE DRINKING AT LSU OVER COLLEGE SOCCER, GET HIM OFF OF HIS BUTT AND DOWN TO COACH MCGAUGHEY'S OFFICE.
Honestly, my younger brother was an all state soccer player in hs and played LB and kicked off for the football team. He is starting to practice kicking this week and if he does well he told me he will try out. I will be surprised if he actually makes it, but I know in hs he could kick it to the goal line and sometimes 2-3 yards into the endzone.
ETA: He is a junior now, 6'0" 200lb, and is stronger than he was in hs, but I know there is no way he is in good cardio shape. But as a kicker I am not sure how great of cardio shape you need to be in anyway.
ETA2: Wow, just read the entire thread and it looks like I just copied someone elses post and reposted. But my brother is seriously starting to practice this week.

This sounds harsh but, after hearing Hairston on the radio last year while still in HS, I'd really enjoy seeing Isom deprive Hairston of a scholarship. Didn't care for his arrogance and condescension before setting foot on campus as a student. But, bottomline is we needs someone who can get the job done.

considering that most soccer players are on scholarship....
the NCAA does not allow students on scholarship for OTHER sports to also play football.
Fail. Need I mention Chad Jones. Spencer Ware. Jared Mitchell?
Jones, Ware and Mitchell were/are all on football scholarships and not on a scholly for another sport while playing football.
