Allow me to clear up the "hate Saban" v. "jealous of Saban" saga, once and for all:

1. Saban is a very good football coach; I didn't say great. Depending on what he ultimately achieves this season could elevate that status. But he gave us 4 better-than-average to very good seasons as LSU, and 1 great season (2003). He had great moments, mostly in 2003, but he had an equal number of aweful moments in the 4 other seasons.

2. Most, if not all, LSU fans respect Saban's coaching abilities. We don't think they are superior to everyone else who has coached the game, but you feel good that he's prepared your team as much as possible and if the players decide to show up that day, the other team is going to have to beat you.

3. However, many, many fans, LSU and otherwise, despise the way Saban has handled the profession of coaching off the field. Besides the somewhat selfish way he handled the departure from LSU,and straight out intentional misrepresentations to the Miami Dolphins, he is a turd of a personality and a human being. He takes himself way too seriously. He doesn't know how to enjoy a victory, even within his 24 hour rule. And all of this wears on the players and they eventually respect his ability but think of him as a prick otherwise. In other words, they tolerate him.

4. Bama fans only care about #2, not #3. And they have every right to feel that way, just as all other fans in the world have the right to feel like #3, because it is the absolute, fair and balanced truth.

That is all.

Do you forgive your best friend if he stabs you in the back, screws your sister, shoots your dog, and runs away with your wife? Didn't think so... In essence that is what Saban did...IMO

I never really liked him when he was at LSU...

Yes, he did great things when he was here, but we can forgive but cannot forget. It is hard to forgive when you can't forget though...

I cannot stand a liar. I know everyone is a liar, but Saban is a repeat offender.

There are a dozen different ways he could have handled this, but he chose the route for solely his personal gain. And he did the same thing when he left MichSt and then Miami...

Here's to you Saban...
:beatdeadhorse:

I honestly don't care all that much that he went to Bama... but he fits good right in there with the self-righteous Bammers.

Peace out.

Here's hoping. But I suspect the media will stir up the shite again about 2 weeks before next years game because "LSU has to go into the snakepit of Bryant Denny and face Saban"...oooooooooooh I'm scared.

Nope, we will just tease him forever! I don't think he will win a national title at Bama anytime soon.
There, I said it...

Beat Saban shirts was a fricking disgrace.

when you let emotion overwhelm your rationale you get nothing but pain. some in the Tigernation just refuse to look or think past their own noses. you disrespect a man because he chose to make a move for the betterment of his family. which of you wouldn't have done the same thing if you were sitting in Huzinga's jet looking at a $6Myr offer and autonomy over your future? sabans' biggest issue is that he hates the media just as much as most of us. he despises the prying and the lies and the self-righteous indignation from a bunch of predatory camp followers. when you reach the level of accomplishment that saban has you will always have people trying to bring you to their organization to fulfill their agenda. it happens 24-7 in corporate america and every man has the right to not only explore but seize great opporunities.

I dont hate Saban, I hate Bama. Maybe I hate Bama just a little more now that they have Saban. But Saban himself was a good coach who did good things for LSU. Although I'm amazed at how the Gumps still think he walks on water, as if Saban's losses to UL-M and UAB never happened, or his knack for fielding unmotivated teams against lesser opponents.
