I am all in. It will be my first jersey purchase ever. Graduated LSU 1987. Our Qb 2022-2023 was my favorite player in LSU history. But, I am LSU, and will abide by his wishes.
I want DJ5 to know we appreciate him and look forward to his continued career at LSU.
No one is bigger than LSU. I dont care how talented you are.

To be fair, he is being petulant about this too. Daniels won the Heisman Trophy before Pickett signed. At that time #20 was retired and LSU had not issued (even if just informally) #9 or #5 since both were worn by Heisman winners. The fact that there was a fight over this also shows Pickett cares more about a jersey number than LSU. If he didn't, he might have been upset but would have let it go. Clearly that didn't happen.
Certainly, LSU's coaching staff (I guess former staff) could have told him he could not wear the number. End of story. However, it seems a promise to allow him to wear it was a pre-condition of him playing for LSU. The opposite conclusion being that if he was not allowed to wear it he would have stopped playing or been frustrated by playing for LSU.
BOTH sides are being ridiculous about it. Daniles could have been mad, but just let it go. On the flip-side, Pickett could have been upset that his favorite number just happened to be the same as an LSU Heisman winner, but have gotten over it because playing for LSU was more important than wearing a specific jersey number.
Frankly, I side with neither in this dumb controversy.

DJ5 is going to make a killing in jersey royalties. I think players get around a $5 or $6 cut per jersey
