The expectations at the new Alex Box are extremely high, but the team may struggle this year. Until the most unbelievable streak in the history of the SEC there was a lot of grumbling about the hiring of Mainieri. Until the streak LSU was not that far over .500 against all opponents. Who will teach pitching? There is no one that has ever taught pitchers. Calling pitches is different from teaching pitching. There is little coaching going on at fall practice, but a lot of reliance on talent level. Talent will take them only so far. What happens when they struggle and need someone to fix it?

If they play their best 9 they should be fine.

I hope they win the SEC, but I just can't see it. Watching the coaches judge pitchers by the radar gun is sad. Lots of fundamental mistakes in the field are not being corrected. It will cost them.

you are a f**king idiot

its November, how else do you expect the coaches to record how fast they are throwing since June? I think they can fix some of their fielding mistakes in the next 4 months. Go jump off a mounatin

Coaches don't judge by the radar gun. The gun is merely a tool in assessing a players strength and progress in maturing. Many other aspects go into decided who is a viable pitcher. Ask Spencer Matthews, it's not like he's throwing 98 mph pitches. He just spots his pitches well, and is deceptive....

The kid is a walk-on... Clearly they weren't worried about his pitching speed.

Clearly you know nothing about baseball.

A lot of coaching should be done in the fall to make sure the same mistakes aren't made in the spring, when it counts.

C'mon newbie...basketball season hasn't even tipped off yet. We are in the midst of a marginal meltdown here...why post negative crap about our baseball team right now? While we love our baseball at LSU, most of our fanbase is not in baseball-mode right now...

Trying to keep the newbie mametoo from bashing them because they are going to struggle this year, or so he says...
