No he uses cherry picked stats to make a point. Every team has holes but we are by far the complete team in the nation.

Also go look at our run distribution by inning. I would be shocked if the 9th was substantially higher than any other inning.

So in actuality we are giving up less than half of the runs we give up in every other inning.

Nice pull

LSU throws the best Pitcher and he pitches a great game but the hitters go on vacation. When your best Pitcher is throwing you should always win those games!

9 hits is not going on vacation bro. People keep talking shite about our hitting from the UF game but 9 hits usually can get you 3 runs. shite happens

Thank you. This is the type of thing I was originally hoping to see.

Actually no. Looking at the 9th inning (the focus of my original post) then it appears that LSU gives up about 10% of the regulation runs in the said inning; the average runs per inning is roughly 21 and they give up 21 runs in both the 9th and 8th, and 30 runs in the 7th.

So, just looking at the averages, it looks like LSU doesn't give up any more runs in the 8th & 9th innings, but they don't give up any less either. Which brings to light something interesting: one could read this as saying that the closers are doing just as well as the starters. (One could also point to the first inning and say that it is somewhat skewing the averages in that it is half-again as many runs as the norm.)

Now, what could be interesting would be to look at the runs LSU scored by inning. First glance it appears that the 9-inning average is about 45 and the 8th and 9th innings fall below that; however, the aforementioned table doesn't account for the number of times LSU has had to bat in the ninth and I'd bet that would change the averages somewhat.

This LSU team is exciting and fun to watch. Lots of talent and a good attitude. Too many negatives on the team this year. They play well and sometimes go into a rut either offensively or defensively. Seems to me this happens to great teams at all baseball levels. A hitter batting .333 only gets one hit in 3 at bats. Too many expect someone to hit 1.000.

This team should be appreciated for its record and its play.

I find it funny that the team with "a glaring weakness when it comes to pitching" led the sec in team ERA. But hey, I might be retarded...

Hahahahahaha gotta love stats.Baseball mafia to the truest form. Yet 2 of our starters didn't last 1 inning this weekend and Poche has had a terrible second half of the season. BTW who's our thrid starter???? But keep hanging on your stats and dumb smartass comments.

4 of the 10 losses were blown in the top of the 9th.

Is this accurate?

Ole Miss 5 - LSU 3; LSU had a 3-2 lead and hadn't given up a run in 5 innings until allowing Old Miss to tie it in the top of the 9th.

UK 12 - LSU 10; LSU had a 10-9 lead going into the 9th. UK in the first 6 innings scored 4 runs and in the last 5 innings they scored 8 runs.

UK 5 - LSU 4; LSU had a tie game before giving up 2 in the top of the 9th (after 4 scoreless innings)(LSU scored only 1 in the bottom of the 9th). I added this in error. The final inning was not the 9th, it was an extra inning, the 12th I believe, and I misread my game notes.

Florida 2 - LSU 1; LSU had a tie game before giving up 1 in the top of the 9th. LSU hadn't given up a run in the first 7 innings until giving up 1 in the top of the 8th and then 1 in the top of the 9th. LSU hadn't scored since the 2nd.

Adjusting for the above error gives that 3 of the 10 losses stemmed from the 9th while another 3 stemmed from the 7th & 8th. So the % figure stays the same.
