Sopher's has insisted that his brother be signed also as a package deal for him to sign, I've read that could happen at lsu. I've read no information about how good his brother is, or if he is worthy of wearing a Tiger uniform. Does anyone know his playing position or have any stats on this guy. Sopher will be great for our team, but it sounds like a hostage situation to me.

Doesn't look like it.

Assume for a moment that he'll never play a down for us. Forget that. Right now, would you give 2 full scholarships to sign the #1 DT in the country?

He has no business being a player on any D1 FBS football team...I'll just leave it at that.

BUT...from what I understand, he only has 1 year of eligibility remaining. So in essence, we would only be tied in a scholarship with him for a single year. I think it's worth that price if it gets Ish here too.

If after all other needs are met, and we aren't looking at potentially signing a massive guy with that final spot, then sure. We need DTs in a bad way.

Agreed...in most years, I'd give 8 full schollies to land the #1 DT, OT, Buck & QB.

The most crucial thing here is not getting Ishmael.

It's stopping Bama (your opponents) from getting him...that's what Saban is so damn good at. He takes kids from other schools/states, so his team doesn't have to play against these kids. He poaches the hell out of the SEC territory states, and in turn his teams don't have to play against these kids now.

No it's not. LSU has a pretty big need on the DLine. This is more about LSU getting the #1 ranked DT more than keeping him away from Bama. Bama's DLine is going to be good whether he goes or not. LSU's line may be significantly better if he comes.

Right, definitely worth it, 50% of the 5 stars in every class never contribute to their teams. Soooo if he's that good it would be worth the two schlolarships, if he's a bust then the brother is just here for a year anyway.

Moffitize the brother and get his little 5* brother in here....... it’s really a no brainer.

50% never contribute huh.
Almost sounds like a number you picked out of the air.
The truth is if we don't get him Bama does and they keep that door open in Amite. If we can get Lee and Ish we can gain momentum there and help seal the wall.

That’s only one way to look at it.

Also look at as you are turning down possibly two four star type of talents for one five star.. I wish we didn’t have such a hard cap,, really great players may become a victim of numbers.

I don’t know how to feel. I would love to have Ish, but I hate that LSU has to offer his brother to even be considered but Alabama doesn’t. oh well. It’s his choice. LSU would love to add the #1 DT

Y’all keep saying that, but again.. taking the brother is preventing a really talented player from coming to LSU, who could be here for four years and contribute..

If he’s a bust it hurts real bad. Brother package deals scare me when one is clearly better and if there are any concerns about effort. I question just how happy he’s going to be here if it took taking his brother to get him. That’s just concerning to me a little. I’m not saying I’m against it. I’m really on the fence, but leaning that he’s certainly worth the risk.

Rodney has video out there. He looked like a decent Nichols player. His first step needed some improvement though.

That's crazy. Bama has the pick of the litter all over the country now. At the end of the day, if the kid wants to play for Alabama, not much can be done to stop that. I do agree however, that offering his brother a scholarship when Bama won't is one of the very few things that can be done to beat them out for a recruit. In this case, though, it's a matter of whether Ishmael is worth it and that probably won't be determined for 2-3 years.

Didnt know Rodney was only eligible for only one year.

Hell, why not. Give this man his scholarship.

However, it tells you where Ish really wants to go.
