A few of you have used the "off the field issues" as a reason for not being a big fan of his. First of all you don't know what your heros might have been into in college. Second, and most important, is why I say Kevin is a better person than you think he is.

One evening back in '97 or '98 while leaving a job site, I ran out of gas in my shitty company vehicle. I was driving down Burbank when it happened. Burbank has high curbs and I could not get the truck over the curb and completely off the roadway by myself. I kept trying because I was still on the road and it was getting dark, with rush hour traffic racing by me. Car after car after car whizzed by me, some cursing me, most barely trying to avoid me.

I tried a few more times to get the truck off the road when an jalopy pulls up behind me. A black man with one windsuit leg pulled up to the knee walks toward me and asks if I needed help. The guy single handedly pushed it over the curb with the quickness and he turns back around to me to see if I needed anything else, and then I realised who he was. KEVIN "ALLEYEZON3" FAULK stopped to help me. None of you jackasses who talk about "character" and off the field issues" would stop to help me. I estimate that about 500 people who believe they have "high Character" passed and cursed me before the "thug" stopped to help asking nothing in exchange. THAT"S KEVIN FAULK you hypocrits!

I can corroborate this story.

Along with that, some of you idiots don't even remember what happened with his "off field issues." The fact is that there was ONE issue: he was breaking up a fight in a bar in Carencro, the police got involved, he stepped on an officers foot, and he got arrested. That's pretty much it.

He came to LSU when he could have gone anywhere. He helped revive the program (you short-timers that think Saban was the savior of the program? Sorry, you're wrong.) He graduated from LSU. He's represented LSU well. He gives back to the community. Did you know he runs a charity celebrity softball game?

He is definitely on of my all-time favorites and I'm proud to wear the the same white #3 nike jersey every Saturday in the fall and winter that I've worn for the last 13 or so years.

I was just messing w/ K.J. Name at least two other Natchez athletes of LSU or national acclaim, and you get a cookie.
Trick question! There aren't any!<g>

Seriously, though, there's Stevan Ridley, Charles Rabb (originally of Ferriday, but coached and lived in Natchez when I was there), Billy Ezell (originally from Greenville but also coached and lived in Natchez) that play/played for LSU. Seems like we had a prominent swimmer a while back, too, but I can't recall for sure.

And I wonder if the people listing Cassanova, Bert Jones, Billy Cannon, etc., actually believe that these guys were never around any "roughhousing" or "horsing around" that was let slide back then as "boys will be boys" but rates a citation and/or arrest by today's standards. I know at least Cannon has been involved in some significant off the field issues that exceed anything I've heard of Faulk doing.

North Natchez Rams, before the Federal desegregation order took effect.

from the U Pitt program...

Hugh Green is considered by many to be the most devastating defender in the history of college football. He was a three-time All-American and in 1980 finished as the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy, an unprecedented feat for a purely defensive player. While he placed behind South Carolina running back George Rogers in the Heisman balloting, Green did win the Lombardi Award (outstanding college lineman or linebacker), the Maxwell Award (top college player in the nation) and the Walter Camp Award (college player of the year) that season. He was the first defensive player ever to win the Walter Camp Award. Green was named to the Panthers' All-Time Team after only his sophomore year. In 1980, Green's No. 99 was retired and he was named Dapper Dan Man of the Year. He was a first-round draft choice of Tampa Bay, where he played five years before joining the Miami Dolphins for the final five years of his pro career. He was a Pro Bowl linebacker in 1983 and 1984. Green was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996.

Ray G - from what I heard, you pretty much nailed it....always sounded like some douchebag cop trying to attach to Faulk's earnings....

Faulk is for sure in my top three.....the main reason is because he "loves LSU" (that's his quoted reason for coming back for his senior year).....

yeah, he prolly smokes a lil dope.....I'll let that slide....
