JL is our only proven, veteran QB. JJ started against a bad Arky team and lost; and he started against a good GA Tech team and won. His stats were better in the loss. It amazes me how so many Tiger fans have anointed JJ as the next great QB. He's done nothing in my book. JL has road wins against South Carolina and Auburn under his belt. He took LSU to overtime against the #1 team (Bama); and he has played well, at times, in the Swamp. Until JJ accomplishes any of the above, I still say JL is our best choice for QB.

Negative. Maybe MSU but not NSU.

Was on NSU campus yesterday for senior day with some students and athletes. Was told that IF JL transfers it will be to NSU.

BTW... NSU had the #1 FCS recruiting class this year

Yeah, he's going to stay. They're going to need someone to run rushing plays when JJ is resting.

Dude, JJ will be the QB next year, aside from a few very infrequent special plays from RS and/ or JL here or there or injury, you will see JJ under the center next year.

Would you guys please stop? You rail on and on about how Lee is maligned for this and that, and all you do is get more, usually reasonable posters who are compelled to respond to your idiocy.

We get it. You like Lee no matter what.

We get it. You find criticisms of Lee by pro-Jefferson posters as personal attacks on you and your boy.

We get it. You don't have the objectivity or sensibility to simply agree to disagree with someone who might have a reasonable concern about who we're starting at quarterback.

We get it. We should all just agree with everything our coaches do... oh, but wait, that's what I thought this board was for... to share stories and opinions, and hopefully factual information, so that we can be more informed, and perhaps revise our own views given new information.

I believe we won't know for sure until after spring practices & maybe not even until after the semester ends. He may wait to see how he competes vs. JJ, RS and even CG this spring, before deciding whether or not to stay at LSU!

Jarett Lee has a good shot at winning the starting job. Why would he leave when his main competion is a virtual red-shirt freshman?

You're missing my point. I want to read your opinion and others' on a legitimate topic.

But, why start a post "Is JL staying at LSU" ?, and such, over and over again. Is there any reason for us to believe that he isn't coming back, and yes, can be a significant contributor, whether or not it's in a supporting role?

I think it just leads to more J.L. bashing. I know you didn't start it. But, like I told RobbBob, it doesn't go away by ignoring it.

We probably disagree on playing time for Lee and Jefferson. Big deal.

I just think we're throwing fuel on the fire of something which is in the past. As you know, once the thread is started, you jump in, see something you agree or disagree with, and you might respond to a poster without a complete appreciation of the thread, much less, the history of the poster's opinion on others.... no matter how much you try.

If I offended you, my apologies.

You mean, you based them on what you saw of the roughly 3 1/2 hours every week of gametime, roughly half of which our team spent on defense where you could not see anything at all relevant to the performances of our QBs.

I am not disagreeing, or debating, or questioning the correctness of your assertion. In fact, this question is not even specifically limited to you, or even to people insisting Jefferson will be our starter. This question is to everyone who insists that a particular player will be our starter next year:

Why do y'all feel the need to make absolute declarations about these things that you obviously cannot possibly know? Is there some thrill or release that you gain, or some anxiety that is soothed, by making declarations weeks or months before we can even begin to get real answers? Why is it that these discussions can never remain at the, "I think so-and-so would be the best starter, and here's why:" level? Why is it inevitable that someone has to start talking like, "NO! So-and-so WILL be the starter!"?

Oh, really? So LSU didn't need him at Auburn or vs Troy? Jefferson was obviously still getting game ready during the Auburn game, and he was an almighty 1-for-6 passing.

you do realize lee started the game an almighty 0-5 with a pick 6 against auburn and an almighty 2-8 with a pick 6 against troy, dont you?

Any of yall bashing Lee should really get off your high horse. For Lee to stay at LSU shows me how much he bleeds purple and gold. What did yall really expect from him this year? He's a damn freshmen playing in the SEC. He played how I thought he would play. I predicted 8-4 and we were close to it. I think it shows alot of heart and determination to stick with LSU even though you supposed LSU fans bash this kid every chance you get. I can guarantee you if something happens to Jefferson in the next couple of years that there is no other QB on our roster who I would rather have for a big game than Lee. He has taken the hits this year and will excel later. Again, he was a FRESHMEN last year! It was Perilloux's fault that we played horrible last year, not Lees. Now go ahead and bash me, i don't care, but don't bash a kid who bleeds purple and gold and sticks with us when we treat him like shite.

Without JL bringing LSU back in the second half of the Troy game, the Tigers lose SIX games and are either headed for Shreveport or sitting at home.......

You continue to be butt-frick stupid on this topic. The problem with your--and everyone else who thinks like this's argument--is that your logic is based on the assumption that Lee cannot improve. That what he did his freshman year is an indication of what he'll be like his SO, JR, and SR seasons. I know it may be hard for you to understand, but college players progress. Oftentimes, significantly. Especially freshman quarterbacks. You're just like the Rantards who said Jamarcus sucked after his freshman season and would never amount to anything. Or the ones who said the same thing about Lafell after the '07 season. Or Bowe after his SO season.

I think JJ will probably wind up being a better QB, but to act like I know it, after watching them only play for not even a year a piece would be fricking stupid. There is just no telling how much each of them will progress. But history tells me that they will, even Jarett Lee. Because almost every quarterback who has ever come before them has.

Look, i'm not a NFL scout by any means.. but what do you think a NFL scout would say about JL 3 years from now? "big frame, quick release, big arm, makes terrible decisions trying to squeeze the ball into triple coverage"

And by that time Matt Stafford will have flamed out of the NFL.

But you're right, history does prove people CAN get better. Will he? I DON'T KNOW.

history also proves that if you don't learn from your mistakes, history has a way of repeating itself.

I just think the coaches didn't think he would get worse and worse with each game and rode him until they could ride him no more.

I don't know the future, if I did, I wouldn't be wasting my time on a messageboard.

I'm merely giving my opinion.

Do we already live in a fascist country where I can't express my opinion?

I'm merely basing it off of Jarrett Lee's performance from this past year.

Until I see him perform better in a real game, and not look like a scared little child, I will continue to express my opinion that I do not think he should be starting at QB for LSU in 2009.

Apparently, the coaches also agree with my opinion. JJ starting and playing the ENTIRE chikfila bowl and JL not having ONE SINGLE GARBAGE PLAY shows me that they had lost any confidence they had in him.
