fan expectations has nothing to do with Florida's on field performance.
I'm not talking about the fans, I'm talking about the administration. UF's athletic director does not frick around. You produce, or you're out. As a result, they damn near always produce.

That's not the attitude at Florida. That's why Florida is in position to win its third national championship in four years.

Alleva needs to get inline with the uf ad. if he did miles would be gone over these violations, not bc they were bad but bc they give us an out.

fwiw if we had a top 10 coach the goals in the first post would be reached

We are in the top 10 in all of those. If we had a top 10 caliber coach, the performance on the field would match the resources.

The best coaches adapt. See Les Miles' last offseason.

That's what's so frustrating about Alleva wanting to keep Miles.
are you really that stupid that you'd expect Alleva to fire a coach whom may have his team finish in the top 10 only 2 years removed from the NC win?

I actually think all but the NC is reasonable. I think to win a national championship your team needs several things happen
By far the best talent (TX, FLA, USC, LSU)
You need a little luck. (LSU won a NC with two losses thanks to Pitt beating WVU. Tennessee won it because Arky QB Cliff Sterner fumbled the ball with a lead and little time on the clock.)
Come from a horrible conference with a great team (MIA)
Or, all of the above.
All I am saying is going undefeated in the SEC, winning the SECCG against a great team and winning against the number 1 or 2 team in the country is VERY tough.

id say some of our fans expectations aren't top 10. some would be happy with ole miss type records

With all of the funding, facilities, talent, support, etc. that our football program has and should have for the forseeable future, is it unreasonable to expect the following over the next 10 years:
3-4 SEC West Championships
2 SEC Championships
1 National Championship
3 BCS Bowl appearances w/ at least 2 wins
7-3 overall bowl record
Go ahead an crucify me
2000-2009:
4 SECW Championships
3 SEC Championships
2 National Titles
4 BCS bowls, 4-0 record
7-2 bowls
2005-2009 (The Les Miles Era):
2 SECW Championships
1 SEC Championships
1 National Title
2 BCS bowls, 2-0 record
4-0 in bowls
So, what you are saying, if you want to be honest, is that Les Miles needs to win 2 more division titles, 1 more SEC title, and go to one more BCS bowl game (no need to win), and then split his next 6 bowl games (including the Cap One this year) to meet your standards?

Simply put, it's unreasonable to expect from someone something that they are incapable of.
It's this sort of ignorance that keeps me coming back to the Rant.
Incapable of? Since he has reached or surpassed the halfway point of success in each of those categories already?

You talk boldly and proudly about teams that "fire coaches" with mediocrity. Yes, that was the case at FLA and Bama, as well as places like Nebraska that didn't deliver the 10+ win seasons and/or NC's. They all had rebuilding years to get back to the top. And, in most cases, change was needed, but it didn't take place until AFTER they incurred losing seasons and/or multiple 7-5 type years.
Les Miles has had one year with an 8-5 record, which followed a NC, and now stands ready to capture another year at 10 wins. This....despite losing his DC as new head coach at Nebraska, showing his talented QB the door and relying on untested RS freshmen or true freshmen QB's to salvage last season and this season. And now, Miles stands ready to dump an OC and other staff members for mediocrity.
Sounds to me like Miles is making changes as necessary and not in the middle of the season, which would disrupt everything. So, if you want swifter action, go root for another team like Bama or FLA. For me, I'll give Miles the opportunity to screw up like other teams allow before dumping him. And yes, in time, LSU will dump Les Miles if he cannot deliver a few SEC West and/or SEC championships over the next 2-3 years.

yes, he really is that fricking stupid...and so are the rest of them. what none of these fricking morons take the time to consider is where we would have been if ryan perriloux hadn't imploded. with last years offensive line and perriloux we would have won 10 games minimum and pounded sabama. if Perriloux sticks around for this, his senior, year he is a Heisman candidate and we beat sabama again. Miles had no control over and no reason to be blamed for a talent of that magnitude quitting on himself and his team. Imagine what shape the gators would be in and how big a hit Urban's rep would have taken if Tebow was as big a moron as Perriloux has turned out to be. with Perriloux we have two more 10 win seasons, bcs bowls and a qb procession just beginning to blossum. with out Perriloux we've had to deal with one season of a qb fiasco/meltdown and one season of a qb not quite ready for primetime. given the 'fact' that Miles has the best 5yr record ever at LSU and has a resounding 4-0 bowl record Alleva would have to be a 'god damn fool' to cave to the blithering idiots who want Miles fired.
It is not unreasonable to expect us to be in contention to win the $EC West every year...it is complete stupidity to expect us to win it with freshmen and inexperienced redshirt freshmen qb's.
I fully expect our offensive line to regain it's status as one of the best and I fully expect our running game to start controling the ball and I fully expect JJ to mature into a top flight $EC qb and I fully expect us to get payback with the gators and fricking saban. the best is yet to come but some of you losers are just too blinded by agenda to see it.

we will have a shot almost every year at getting this, but we have two undefeated teams in the sec and one of them is going to miss out on prob 3 of those listed above. So its possible, but very unlikely. Winning the west is harder than getting the 7-3 bowl record

to deal with one season of a qb fiasco/meltdown and one season of a qb not quite ready for primetime
Lee = FAIL
Hatch = never an SEC QB and transfer
Jefferson = raw talent but never improved throughout an entire season
How long does Miles get to ride the RP screw up excuse?

It's very simple. You get what you demand and expect. At Florida and Alabama, they demand and expect top-level elite success, and they eventually get it. Schools that don't demand or expect it don't get it. If a coach can go .500 in SEC play for a two-year stretch and not be in danger of losing his job, why would he bother to do any better?
LSU fans have lost their fricking minds.

Is it unreasonable to expect...
In a very real sense it is unreasonable to "expect" anything that you yourself don't have a major part in making happen. At the very least it is a recepie for frustration. (kind of like that old prayer about give me the courage to change the things I can, the serenity to accept the things I can't and the wisdom to know the difference).
On my part, I expect to be able to secure tickets to a couple of home games a year, to have my t.v. in working order and a reasonable amount of quiet to watch the other games, to keep something soft at hand in case I need something to throw at the t.v. and to keep myself free of any extraneous weddings, parties, etc. on Saturdays during football season. So far I've been able to meet my expectations very well.
