If Daniels really improves developing the ability to execute an effective passing game, is there another team with a better QB to challenge LSU?

Yes, it's game 1 of the season against LSU. Travis is better than Daniels with a starting roster very similar in LSU in talent.

I'm amazed he doesn't have more national recognition.

It depends. nothing is that black and white

I'm not sure that anyone would consider an LSU team with single loss in the SEC championship game then a playoff appearance as taking a step back.

A 3 or 4 loss team with no championship game appearance is another thing entirely.

It will depend on the season. If they go 11-1 with only loss on the road to 12-0 Alabama. They wouldn’t win the conference but I wouldn’t call that a step back.

Are you under a rock? This board and the national media are in love with Jordan Travis and FSU.

The SEC is definitely light on QBs next year. The top ones are Daniels, Will Rogers, Rattler, KJ Jefferson, & Leary at Kentucky.

Daniels has a great shot at being the best QB in the SEC next year. We should have a very good chance at getting back to Atlanta.

Did you mean is it a step back if lsu doesn’t win the west? There is a scenario where lsu improves on their regular season record and doesn’t win the way. However, they could win a bowl game and be ranked higher than this year.
I don’t think that would be a step back but it definitely could be argued

We had half a roster last season, somehow managed to win the west and beat bama, and now it’s a a step back if we don’t win the SEC next year?

How many SEC championships do we have in the past 20 years? It’s not that easy to do. Especially in a second year of a new coaching tenure.

Depends, if we go 11-1 and only lose to Bama who goes undefeated and wins the SEC then we likely get into the CFP so that would not be a step back.

Now if we go 10-2 and don't make it to the SEC because we lost to Bama and say Ole Miss then yes it would be a step backwards but I have said that a 10-2 season should be the standard next season.

I am looking forward to next year to see how the offense fares. If LSU goes 11-1 with a loss to the gumps I guess that would be an improvement, but at some point this team has to start beating them with some regularity.

Well I've already gone on record with a 12-0 prediction, 10-2 at worst and that's If we trip up game one, and Bama finds a QB that played better than Bryce Young did last year.
