Everything else is humming along right now (aside from a few defensive hiccups) with a high powered offense, stellar QB, good running game and solid special teams.

The lone question mark to me is that the last 3 decent to great QBs at LSU were all transfers in Mett, Etling, and now Burrow. Obviously, 2 were part of a different staff but you get my point.

LSU had the stigma of boring antiquated offenses. O has smashed that stereotype this year. Can Ensminger and Brady now take Brennan or Parrish and turn them into something that resembles Joe Burrow?

If they can, look out SEC...future LSU is going to be very scary.

ETA: I'm speaking of coaching changes only as boxes to check. As others have pointed out, beating Bama and National hardware are obviously huge milestones to check off the list.

If we keep Brady, we will develop great QB’s, especially in this style offense. If Brady leaves, I’m not so sure.
Brady did develop Joe. Joe was good at the end of last year. Brady came in and Joe is a Heisman contender.
If Brady becomes our QC, we will have many great QB’s in the future.

No. The LSU coach should be expected to compete for and win championships. That's his last box to check. I don't care if he pulls a QB out of a cereal box if it gets us to Atlanta and the playoffs.

Joe Burrow is a once in a generation athlete.
The fact that he grew up reading defenses and talking football with his Dad, a DC @ Ohio gives Joe a huge headstart over 99.9% of his competitors at QB.
Nix @ Auburn is another coaches son playing QB in the SEC

I totally understand what you are saying, but some credit needs to be given for the improvement from last season to this one in Burrow. I get that he wasn't totally developed at LSU, but he did show an incredible amount of improvement from season one at LSU to season two.

Only if you exclude hardware of any kind.

But keep in mind, answers like this are only offered because of questions like these. We are 7 games into this season, and while extraordinary this far, only 7 games. We've been #2 this late fairly recently. None of it matters if we don't finish the job...and that DOES NOT mean, at least for me, winning it all....so the first person that tries to suggest that I've said that unless we win the NC this year he's a failure can eat a bag of dicks.

But if with this team, and this QB, we can't win the SECW this year...then what are we talking about here?

Beating bama would be a pretty big box check.

Burrow went from a 57% passer to an 80% passer in one season.

Burrow is a dude but the staff put in work this offseason. From implementing a new offense to conveying it to burrow to coaching up the WRs. It’s a collective effort but anyone that argues that there wasn’t some major development this offseason is batshit silly

Come on dude. Win a title. That’s the only box that matters.

This fan base will always find another box he needs to check. My opinion he has done great and is on pace to compete for national championships. He hired coaches who helped make the staff stronger on the field and in recruiting. Brought in transfers where needed and is re building both lines which was bad.

I think the staff has developed Burrow. I know he came from OSU, but he was nowhere near what he is now. He went from being a serviceable SEC QB to one of the best in the nation in one off season.

Next year’s team will be inferior to this team, because the 2017 class will start to leave, and the 2018 class will take it’s place. The 2017 class is one of the best in LSU history. The 2018 class is one of the worse this century. We will probably take a step back. Orgeron can’t be judged just on next year. If he’s in the playoffs this year I’ll cut him slack next year, as long as he’s back near the top in 2021.
