I never wish any ill of players and coaches who have come and gone. He was obviously in way over his head at a major program, especially one that really needed discipline more than anything else.
This is well put. My sentiments exactly... He's probably a pretty nice guy...
He was not as big an arse as Mike Archer but he was not nearly as approchable as Les Miles and Curly had a co-ed fetish, it's a wonder he had time to coach.

What's funny is he played for Gene Stallings at Texas A&M, and coached under Bear Bryant, Jackie Sherrill and Danny Ford before getting the job at Southern Miss and doing what, at the time, seemed like an incredible job at USM. They went 23-11 and beat very good Auburn, Alabama and FSU teams on the road during his tenure there. I know he had Favre and all that, but still, one QB does not a team make. That was a very good Southern Miss team during his three years. They kind of remind me of what Pat Hill built at Fresno for a few years until he fell off the map.
Think about the back to back hires of Archer and Hallman contrasted with the back to back hires of Saban and Miles. Stunning. In between was the DiNardo hire, which was neither great nor terrible.

Cut Curley some slack. I was at LSU in the 90s and I heard all the (mostly true) tales. The players liked him and he recruited well. He just couldn't but together the best game plans and he didn't make adjustments as well during games.
Considering Dale was nice and pretty and he had two beautiful daughters I never really understood why, but then again the girls at LSU are smoking.

If I recall, his wife then (her name was Dale, yes) he was fooling around on was indeed a pretty smoking lady.
I don't wish Curley ill, but I don't wish him anything else either.

Yeah, she was a MILF before the term was invented.

I never had a problem with him during his time as LSU's coach,
He won 36% of his games and never had a winning season.
You had no problem with those results?

I will always remember what he said at his press conference when he was introduced as head coach.
I remember in his last two seasons his radio coaches show. Many people called him and voiced doubt, anger and disgust at how the team was playing. He used to say "I have been successful everywhere I have been" That was his only response. He was not only a dumbarse but an arrogant pompus dumbarse

He won 16 games in 4 years, if we Bama 1/9/12 we'll have 14 wins t his year

With Jamie Howard's help, he made pigs fly in 1993, breaking a 31-game unbeaten streak for Bama. At least he'll always have that.
EDIT: Howard, 3-10, 16 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT, 1 sack LINK

I don't think he was alive while at LSU.

I know of at least one WR that walked in on Curley getting a zipper inspection from a young lady

It was the defense, not Howard. They got 4 INT's.
