I looked him up along with some other coaches and the last thing that I could find was that he was forced to resign from a high school in Alabama because he had a losing record.

Yeah, I think his autobiography (ghost written, of course, publishers don't take poorly-worded crayon) came out last year or the year before - "Curley Hallman - Still Losin'!"

Thanks for the link but the latest news I saw was 2008. I was wondering if maybe he was still attempting to coach??

If I were to guess what he was doing I'd say he's in some kind of construction.

Whatever it is, if Brett Favre isn't involved, I would bet Curley isn't very good at it.

I don't think he was alive while at LSU.

I still remember Buddy D losing it on air when LSU hired Hallman. This was when Buddy was still on TV. And of course he was right.

I remember celebrating when that guy got fired. Those were the dark times in LSU football. I hope he's at least alive and well...not coaching in Louisiana.

He was a P.E. coach at an elementary school in Muscle Shoals, AL in 2009. Not sure if he's still doing that.

I will always remember what he said at his press conference when he was introduced as head coach.

quote:

I can't promise you victories, but I can promise you one thing - this team will be competitive.

So you see, he never said we would win.

I never wish any ill of players and coaches who have come and gone. He was obviously in way over his head at a major program, especially one that really needed discipline more than anything else.

He did lose a lot of close games, and his teams did always play hard. I never had a problem with him during his time as LSU's coach, although I certainly had no problem with him getting fired to try to get somebody better.

This is well put. My sentiments exactly... He's probably a pretty nice guy...

I wonder if he made the kids wrestle like he did the players at LSU?

He's currently in Tuscaloosa interviewing for the soon to be vacated defensive coordinator job.

There's a campaign photo with her and Curley on it. I'll see if I can find it.

Is it okay to still wish ill on Joe Dean, though?
