He nailed it on the head. His play calling is making out offensive line look terrible. Who knows how good they could be if the other team doesn't play 8 in the box without fear of being punished for it. Les said that if teams continue to defend them this way, The Tigers are going to make them pay. But he also has said numerous times that R. Shepard was going to touch the ball 10 or 12 times every game.

Makes sense, you may have found the key to getting the chemistry back where it was in 2007. Maybe a chance to be competitive in the SEC again.

Only question I have is why hasn't Miles given Crowton the confidence he needs or maybe Miles feels the same way?

Either way this game is time to "let her rip".

Yeah its definitely just a theory. A different one, but a theory nonetheless.

That's a great point. Might not just be Crowton who was rattled. I sure as shite know I was.

Last year, it wasn't that they threw the ball, it was when and how. The first play against UGA, we had an empty backfield, which meant we had to throw. Crowton put all the pressure on the weakest player on the offense. Against Bama, he had Lee throwing on third and long when we were ahead or tied. He should have run the ball and punted. It was poor overall game management. I think they are making a concerted effort not to have all the pressure on Jefferson, but they will have to throw some more than they have.

...and have overcompensated. They have to open up the middle of the field. Big physical WR's and one of the best TE's in the college game=great success between the hash marks. I keep saying, dump a couple over the heads of the 6-7 guys pouring in on every play, and all of a sudden, they have to sit back, and the running game opens up. I DO think Crowton is calling plays like he is scared.

This, this, this!

UGA hung 50+ on us last year... unless Lee threw all of this Pick 6's in that game, that game does not lie on Lee's shoulders.

And if we had run the ball and punted, you would be running Miles+Crowton out of town for playing Saban+Fisher ball.

I had a post about this last week.

LINK

Last year was an abrupt wake up call. This offense did anything it wanted to in 2007 and, even with the struggles in the passing game, could run at will until Scott and the line started to break down at the end of the season last year. Now this season, even that power running safety blanket is gone. Combine that with the fact that we now had a starting QB who is a polar opposite of Lee and Russel Shepard, who the coaches don't quite know how to use yet, and we have a lot of change going on. I think that seeing how quickly it can all head south in SEC because the margin between dominance and defeat are not as wide as we all may think have scared the hell out of them. This situation has been greater underlined by the fact that we have played against two new, young, energetic coaches who are throwing out the kitchen sink because they have absolutely nothing to lose. Our coaching staff needs to get back to that freewheeling mentality, but they have a lot more pressure on them than guys like Sarkesian, Mullen, Chisek, or Kiffin. It will be interesting to see if they can overcome this fear with the stakes being so high from here on out.

His facts, observations, conclusions and speculation sound totally valid to me.

Whatever the problems let's hope today is the day that it gets turned around and started in a more positive direction for everyone except our weekly opponents and their collective fan bases.

Geaux you hairy Tigahs!!
