I know your original point, but a "little" better ERA than 5+ Ross? Come on now, lol.

a couple of points: 1) Coleman wasnt getting strikes called on pitches that he normally gets calls for, so he was forced to throw fastballs down the middle or slightly up 2) it was hot and the heat got to him, i dont think it's supposed to be as hot for game 3 but not sure 3) the wind was really carrying the ball out in game 1, a couple of those solo shots BARELY WENT OUT 4) AR will rock n roll tomorrow, you'll see

I have all the confidence in the world in Ranaudo for game 3. He's already considered the best college pitching prospect available for next years MLB draft. He's a great competitor and has 154 strike outs for the year. I also like the situational lefty in Chad Jones and Matty Ott to close it out.

If you don't feel good about LSU's pitching matchup for tonight's game, then you don't know much about baseball. We are pitching one of, if not our best pitchers, and Texas is pitching their third best. We have Coleman, Ross, Bertuccini, etc. to pitch.

If anyone should be nervous about the matchup, it should be Texas. They definitely can't pitch their #2 guy and most likely their #1 won't pitch more than a situational half of an inning.

If Ranaudo can paint the corners and keep his pitches down, as well as throw an effective change-up like he did against Arkansas, then he will be tough to beat. He needs to pitch that way bc he has lost a good 3-4 mph of velocity over the course of the season.

It is going to be sick what he does tomorrow. I also think Schimpf, Mahtook, and Dean have FANTASTIC games tomorrow.

They'd better. They'd better. Especially Dean and Schimpf. We will not win without bat production from them.

Not confident here at all. Texas has the momentum on their side tonight. I hope that what got our guys here resurfaces tonight and we take the crown, but this is not a game I'd put any amount of money on.

I agree. Something nobody has mentioned yet in this thread is the "ump" factor. If the guy behind the plate isn't calling strikes, then AR might start guiding his pitches and with UT's hot bats, we've seen what can happen.

I don't have a problem with that, so long as it's called that way for both pitchers.

Agreed, but it hasn't been that way so far. It didn't cost LSU the game last night, but you gotta admit that the ump seemed to give Jungmann a little more room to work with than he did Ross or Byrd.

I agree with that ..I felt like it was the same way Monday night..But no matter what LSU has to hit the ball and score runs or it wont matter how well AR pitches.

That is a pretty piss poor excuse. He should be accustomed to the heat, after all he does live in South Louisiana

And that is why the most important person on the field will not be wearing LSU nor Texas colors (well, not visibly), he'll be in blue. If we have another ridiculously called game from the ump behind the plate like yesterday, it won't matter. Ranaudo can have all the control in the world to paint those corners, but what can he do when he paints it and its called a ball every time?

Tonight it will about our ability to hit the ball. It will not be about who is on the mound. If we are hitting the way we are supposed to be Texas will not be able to out score LSU. We score runs in bunches they score runs one at a time.

Exactly. Based on what we've seen so far, we have to expect an inconsistant strike zone. As another poster said, it's not a big deal if it's called the same way for both pitchers. LSU has got to jump on Green early and put some runs on the board.

And that's all anyone should expect from any umpire: consistency. Your strike zone can be absolutely retarded but it needs to be retarded for both teams. We have not gotten that benefit. Coincidentally (or not), I don't think anyone has against Texas this CWS.
