Not at all, the only thing concerning to me is depth of the DL.

One of the most promising things I saw last night, aside from stellar play on offense, was Ego Ferguson blowing up double teams and pressuring the QB. If you have two dominant DTs, that is something pretty special to build around. They have a little work to do at LB and in the secondary but we have a couple cupcakes to get things in gear there.

We held them to 259 total yards, AND IT WAS THE FIRST GAME. I was very pleased with our defense. They will only get better.

The defense is going to be nasty as the season goes on. This is going to be a defense that will be one of the best by the end of the year. I'm a little nervous our front 7 is a little light for Alabama, but that is the only concern IMO. I think when Alabama sees the game footage of our game last night, they are going to be saying "oh shite"

I'm with you on this. Based on perception, LSU looked a little slow. Didn't see much from LB's. I thought guys like Kwon, Deibo Jones, Ronnie Feist would step up this year.

On the other hand, LSU outgained TCU, 448-259. The Tigers ran 80 plays to TCU's 54 which was reverse of Clemson in # of plays. It seemed like TCU had more than 259. But here's another key point: LSU 5.6 yds/play vs. TCU 4.8 yds/play. 4.8 too much win 11-12 games against this schedule.

It's the first game. If we have a weak spot it's at LB. Jones return should improve things. And as someone else said, "In the Chief I Trust".

no real concern about the defense. welter is the LSU version of scott schanle. dude was one step behind most plays.

I guess I'm just stupid since I was drinking Diet A&W during the game. But not as stupid as you since you're a TCU fan posting on this thread.

After the first two drives we were in Nickel the rest of the game. I think I saw one series where Lamar Louis was in at Mike instead of Welter, and I thought he brought a lot more athleticism to the position. I think Welter being in the game so much really hurt us, especially on the sweep plays and in coverage! D-line looked good especially Danielle Hunter and Jordan Allen and Ego played huuuuuuuugggggeeeee. Jalen Mills is gonna be a top 10 pick in 2 years enough said! Micah Eugene had a great game in the nickel. Collins didn't play too bad but he's certainly our number 2 corner. It's scary how good he could be if he plays to potential! All in all the two question marks out performed our strength last night and I would have really liked to have seen some sort of rotation at LB... Great game though!

This will be key to a great season. LSU controlling the line of scrimmage. keeps drives going longer and keeps the defense off the field.

We gave up a kick return for a TD and gave them the ball on the 4. They had one other TD all night. They forced turnovers as well.

We also had a stop on third and Ego had that personal foul that gave them the first down. They went on to score on that drive. We don't take that personal foul it is another stop on 7 less points.

well first if ANYONE thinks that there is no room for improvement with the D,they need to watch a replay of the game,we got gashed with the run a few times and gave up a some big plays, that being said I was impressed with the way our young D handled themselves overall, alot of potential there, good things coming in the next couple years.

We got burned on HUGE running "speed" plays to the corner at least three times. That's pretty rare for a team to have any success against LSU on the edges. I thought our LB's were getting caught in inside traffic and watching em run by them. We definitely missed Minter. We will see personnel changes in the next few weeks, I'm guessing.

I thought Mills was phenomenal in coverage.

I definitely think he defense is WIP but this is to be expected with younger players. There are no glaring weaknesses (except maybe DE), just a matter of getting PT and understanding game situations better.
