I think the methodology people are using to say that USC is the "most talented" college football team is flawed.

First, a team that didn't win a national championship isn't the "most talented" college football team.

It makes no sense to judge a college football team's "talent" by future NFL All Pros.

Is a Michigan team led by Tom Brady "more talented" than a Florida team led by Tim Tebow.

2020 Alabama was the most talented visiting team ever to play in Tiger Stadium (and I hate recency bias). 1988 Miami is up there too. There are are probably 10 Alabama teams (including 1979) and probably a couple of Florida teams that were "more talented" than USC.

You were doing good until you put a 2020 team in this. That year doesn't count. The scores were like arena league football. No team played defense.

I still think the 2008 Florida Team was pretty damned good.

1988 Miami looked as good as any team I’ve seen and I’ve been in the NEZ since 82.

I agree that the better team that night lost against USC. But that Miami team was really good in 88. The just crushed LSU in a monsoon. And made it look easy…..

Not a chance, those USC players were outstanding in college as well. What they did in the pros only cemented that fact. It's debatable Bama ever fielded a team that talented, certainly not 10.

I don’t think it’s even debatable

Agreed. I was there. Turned down $200 for the tickets walking in gate 4!
I was gonna sell but my wife said, "I want to watch the Tigers!"
So..just like today...she gets pretty much what she wants!

They had 6 first team All Americans and the Heisman. They were filthy regardless of year.

You know how I can tell you don’t know shite or was even born then? I have the SI cover for the “VOTE” they gave to Bama. It was total bull shite. SC would have beaten the piss out of them.

The same way USC was clearly better than LSU in 03 and Texas in 05?

And I was 10 when they played that game, jackass.
