Randy Livingston just led Newman to back to back state titles in basketball.

You don't know that. No LSU Basketball Coach in the past was a threat.
Remember what Bobby Knight said about Dale?

Yep. But Dale got us in the dance 12 years in a row. 2 final fours. And he brought Shaq to LSU. One of our greatest ambassadors ever.

LOL....Wade is gone, and gone for good!

At the time, Woodward had no choice but to release him.

LSU will be fine, give it some time.

Yep, in his 25th season, Dale had a 3-win SEC season.

Most fans can't comprehend the state of LSU Basketball when Dale was hired.
It was like LSU Baseball, prior to Bertman. There was no LSU Baseball nor Basketball prior to those two gentlemen.
When LSU hired Maravich, in order to get Pete, it indicated they were finally interested in fielding a Basketball team.

Interesting thing: LSU thought they were going to be down for a few years bc of WW mess so they fired him. Now, they are going to be down for a few years until this coach or another one gets things going. Why now just put up with the sanctions or issues a couple years and have him locked in for a while.

That’s what a bunch of us said on here. We basically gave ourselves the death penalty by firing him and hiring mcboring. Should’ve just kept Wade and dealt with consequences.

Not entirely true with basketball but no real program after Harry Rabenhorst was done and even his last couple of years, just post Pettit, were not very good. From 1954-55 to 1971-72 LSU only had 4 winning seasons, 2 of those were Pistol Pete teams. Only two seasons were consecutive. They only had 3 winning seasons in SEC play, only one with Pistol Pete. They only had 1 post season appearance, the 1969-70 NIT fourth place finish.

An interesting note, Rabenhorst actually won the SEC twice in baseball. He was the head coach in baseball(1927-1942, 1946-1956) and basketball(1925-1942, 1945-1957) and an assistant in football(1927-1942). He served in WWII, hence the gap. Also the LSU AD 1967-68.

I love Will Wade. Wish he were still the coach. But he is not still the coach. I feel like he is gonna turn into Nick Saban with the fanbase longing for him forever now. Might as well move on no?

I gave Dale credit for making LSU/Baton Rouge a basketball University/City in another post.
Lot of happy memories.
