Here is what it says about the odds of the BCS NC.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are favored at online sportsbooks to repeat as college football national champs. Alabama is 7-2 in 2011 BCS Championship odds with returning Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram and a lot of talent on offense including quarterback Greg McElroy. The Crimson Tide defense did lose a lot of players but Nick Saban is a defensive guru so look for the Tide to reload on that side of the ball. The schedule helps Alabama as they get the Florida Gators at home. They do have tough road games though at LSU and Arkansas.
Ohio State is the second choice in 2011 BCS Championship odds at online sportsbooks as they are listed at 13-2. The Buckeyes bring back quarterback Terrelle Pryor and they play in the Big 10 which means they have an easier schedule than teams like Alabama or Florida. The Buckeyes do have to travel to Wisconsin and Iowa in 2010 so going unbeaten will not be easy. There are three teams listed at 12-1 in college football odds to win it all next season. Bet Alabama 7-2 as betting favorites in 2011 BCS Championship odds with a 10% bonus.
Teams listed at 12-1 are USC, Boise State and Oregon but you can throw Oregon out as a contender. Their two best players, quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and running back LaMichael James are in legal trouble and it is unclear whether they will even play next season. USC has a new head coach in Lane Kiffin so they should be interesting to watch while Boise State’s season will be determined in the first few games as they play Virginia Tech and Oregon State. Texas loses Colt McCoy but they still have a lot of talent and Garrett Gilbert looked pretty good in relief of McCoy in the BCS title game last year. The Longhorns are 15-1. Bet Ohio State 13-2 as betting favorites in 2011 BCS Championship odds with a 10% bonus.
Two other Big 12 teams, Nebraska and Oklahoma are also 15-1. Florida loses Tim Tebow and they are 16-1 in 2011 BCS Championship odds. TCU will try and go unbeaten but it may be tougher this season. The Horned Frogs are 18-1. Virginia Tech is also 18-1. Three teams are listed at 20-1 in 2001 BCS Championship odds. Miami of Florida, Penn State and Iowa are all 20-1. LSU is 25-1 while Arkansas and Georgia are interesting longshots at 30-1. Vegas sportsbooks have the Alabama Crimson Tide 3-1 betting favorites in odds to win the 2011 BCS Championship.

Interesting. Kind of funny how times have changed. When Arnsparger was here, 25 points a game would have looked pretty damn good.

I am guessing this is at least a couple of months old if they are still claiming USC as 12-1 odds. They are on probation and ineligible for the title game.

Is there anywhere I can take 1:12 odds on USC not winning the national title?

I just went to the site that I have the link for and it is there. That is one of the reasons I put it upto show that even the experts get it wrong. That is what they are using to say LSU does not have a chance at beating Fla or Bama.

I have a bone to pick with people.
The problem is that there is mounting evidence based on the results that the talent is not being fully developed.
I disagree with that. If that were true, then when they hit the NFL, they would be studs. How many of Saban's players are pro bowlers while at LSU and how many of Miles are. Perhaps the players aren't as good as many think.

Fairly pleased with how Vegas feels about LSU.
Didn't realize these teams are so highly respected by Vegas this season:
Oklahoma State
Miami
Iowa

Bet the LSU Tigers 25-1 as longshots in 2011 BCS odds with an over/under regular season win total of 7.5 in college football predictions.
O/U regular season wins at 7.5.
Looks very close to what I've predicted.

I'd think about betting the over on this. I would've figured it would be at least 8.0, and maybe 8.5

apparently Vegas agrees with the rational human beings on TD, or negatigers according to the rant.

I would bet againist quite a few of those teams

If given the choice I take the over

The NBC poll released today says 6-6 (they have six teams on the schedule ranked ahead of us). Based on that, 7.5 seems generous.

Holy hell. What 6 are they predicting we lose?
Posted on 7/29/10 at 6:10 pm to TigersRuleTheEarth
They didn't predict games per se, but had six of our opponents ranked ahead of us in their poll (AL, FL, Aub, Arky, UNC, WVU). Good to see UNC and WVU getting some attention, so those wins will carry more weight.

Out-of-Date.
This was posted in March.
Not that LSU's odds will have risen significantly.

Vegas chooses lines based on how they think people will bet. Being that we had two down years most people around the country are probably thinking we will have another down year. It has nothing to do with what Vegas thinks our record will actually be.
They are trying to make money, not predict the future.

I think we are staring at a .500 season this year. The downward slide to 6-6 will happen in '10.

On the other hand LSU is 25 to 1 because they have one of the toughest schedule in the country
