In actuality, people stick up for Miles.
Not his useless OC.
At some point, one is related to the other and I think that point was reached this year. If Crowton is retained, it falls squarely on Miles shoulders.

Hey Scooter....we're 10-2 in spite of Crowton's offense!
Perfect example of how the fanbase is divided. The magic 10 win mark is all some people need, other see that with a halfway decent offense that this team is a national title contender.

Awwwww, that's sweet Peej. I'm sure Rapa appreciates you e-knighting for him. Btw, when are we going to meet up again?

You've become really annoying, do you realize that?
That's relative.

Listen, Miles is certainly not one of the better X's and O's coaches in America.
That's a great point, but it's kind of annoying.
quote:
Miles is, however, a great recruiter and the talent that he puts on the field has put LSU in position to compete in games we should never have been in over the past few seasons.
We should be in every game, given that talent. We are in every game.

All that said, my view is that posters like you will never be satisfied.
Stop paying attention to me?

I'll just enjoy the season
Kudos, except for the fact that you didn't enjoy the gameplay for most of the season.

Is it painful to watch? Absolutely fricking painful!

uway, little of what you have asserted is defensible from an analytical or statistical perspective.
Both 2007 losses were by a lesser scoring margin and both were in triple-overtime games--this means they were tied at the end of regulation and two overtime periods--2010's were both in regulation. Both of 2007's losses came against ranked opponents with leading Heisman contenders. The Auburn loss fits that last criterion, the Arkansas loss does not.

While I may be missing the sarcasm, it seems you are being derisive toward Miles and dismissive of rantards opinions of Crowton. Statistically the claims you decry seem to be legitimate. Consider:
2007 (12-2):
Total Offense: 26 (SEC Rank: 4)
Scoring Offense: 11 (2)
Total Defense: 3 (1)
Scoring Defense: 17 (2)
2008 (8-5):
Total Offense: 55 (5)
Scoring Offense: 30 (4)
Total Defense: 32 (9)
Scoring Defense: 56 (9)
2009 (9-4):
Total Offense: 112 (12)
Scoring Offense: 76 (10)
Total Defense: 26 (6)
Scoring Defense: 11 (3)
2010 (10-2):
Total Offense: 93 (11)
Scoring Offense: 50 (9)
Total Defense: 9 (2)
Scoring Defense: 9 (2)
Defensively LSU went from 3 to 32 and there were immediate changes which led to significant improvements. Offensively the fall has been from 26 to 93. You point out that the constant from 2005 to now is Miles, but leave out the offensive coaching constant during the offensive decline, namely Crowton. Changing the failed dual-DC system that was 9th in a conference of 12 resulted in a significant performance improvement. Now we have an offense that is the second worst--an improvement from worst.
You go on to put forth your equation without considering that a mediocre coach probably would not be able to consistently attract 'Tons of talent'. Miles' coaching ability can be debated but this season LSU was 2 decent offensive plays or 1 decent offense away from being an undefeated national title contender.
Miles took a team with a bad defense and bad offense and won eight; then a decent defense and terrible offense and won nine; now a good defense and a terrible offense and won ten (maybe eleven). Before that he piloted three seasons of LSU football to the top five, including a NC.
Teams with bad or mediocre coaches generally don't win 61 or 62 games over the span of six years.

In fact, both of his losses this year were better than the losses in 2007, so you could say this regular season was more impressive than that one.

Doesn't Miles know we went 10-2, which means there are no problems? Why would you fire a national-championship winning offensive coordinator after a 10-win season? You rantards are really something.

There's only one constant through all of that. Well, two constants. One is Les Miles and the other is a boatload of talent.
There you have it... Les Miles brings in a boatload of talent.

Miles I like ... Crowton not so much. Crowton's offense is 93rd versus the defense 9. Where would we be if we had a top 15 or 20 offense? Crowton needs to go ASAP!

Because for the second year in a row he finished at the bottom of the SEC in offense and ranked 90th out of about 120 D1 schools with probably the most talent.
Because he can't figure out how to get the most use out of Russell Shepherd.
Because he runs plays at the goal line that has a one receiver option to throw too and if that player is covered there is no where else to go with the ball.
Because his offenses have declined every year since the BCS Championship season.
How many more reasons do you want?

Boy is THAT ever true! He was lucky to get 20K people in the stands toward the end of his tenure.

LSUdm21 - Are you always a prick or you're working hard to be one? I didn't say that it wasn't in the paper. I said that I can't recall reading that. I then asked if he had a link. You are a miserable BOY to try and run me down with pussy talk. Grow up little BOY and try to build people up instead of cutting them down. Now, empty the trash like your mommy told you o.k. BOY?
